This is a true collectors car in that not only is it an Official Pace Car, but it was also the 25th Anniversary of the Chevrolet Corvette! As for the details of the car, it has a 350 V8 with Automatic transmission and only has 69,092 Actual Miles! It also has power windows & power locks with Mirrored T-Tops and AM/FM Cassette stereo. This car runs and drives good and has been garage kept for many years. This car has been under the same ownership for over 15 years and since purchasing, the car has had less than 20K miles placed on it by the owner. As stated above, these cars are a True Collector Car. In the model year 1978, only 6,502 of these cars were produced so its easy to say that when these cars are gone, they are gone and there wont be any more. Even though the car is a little dusty in the pictures, you will see that the car needs very little. The car is located in Lena, Ohio which is about 35 miles north of Dayton, Ohio and about 1-1 hours West of Columbus. FACTS About the 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car: 1978 was not only Corvette's 25th birthday but also the first time they paced the Indy 500. The pace car replicas had their own paint scheme which consisted of a two tone paint with a red stripe. The extremely high demand for the pace car continually increased the quantity produced and in the end Chevrolet decided to build one for every Corvette dealer, a total of 6,502. Road & Track took a 1978 L-82 to 60 mph in just 6.6 seconds, 127 mph flat out, and covered the quarter-mile in 15.3 seconds @ 95 mph. The Wall Street Journal ran a front page article about the 1978 Indy Pace Cars, indicating they would be an excellent investment. The Pace Car option added over $13,000 to the price of the car (more than the base price!). All '78 Corvettes were built with Rochester Q-Jet carburetors.
