1978 CORVETTE PACE CAR, L82 ENGINE - FE7 GYMKHANA SUSPENSION
1978 Corvette Pace Car was a Limited Edition Corvette by virtue of its color scheme, options, and power group that included: Power Windows, Power Locks, Power Antenna, Rear Window Defogger, Air Conditioning, Tilt Steering, Power Steering, Power Brakes. Also included where Special Aluminum Wheels, Front & Rear Spoilers, Sport Mirrors, Mirrorred Glass T-Tops, Two Tone Paint, and Limited Edition decals. Extra options ordered with this Pace car include: L82 Engine Package, FE7 Gymkhana Suspension, K30 Cruise Control, MX1 Auto. Trans., and the 15C Leather/Cloth Seat Inserts that was sort of rare in Pace Cars. This Pace Car is an original mileage car and is mechanically sound. The engine is all original and still has the smog pump and emissions system. The cruise control, wiper delay, rear defogger, headlamp actuators, and everything else works perfectly. The A/C blows ice cold air also.
I purchased the car in July of 2002 with 24,425 miles on it. I have had the car 7 years and have put 5,000 miles on it. The car was originally sold by Truman Baker Chevrolet in Arkansas and the car lived in Arkansas its whole life until I bought it and brought it to Louisiana.
The car has always been stored in my garage (in the background of my pictures). I have never driven the car in the rain and, being a maintenance man, have always performed maint. on the car and replaced parts due to age.: Exhaust Pipes, Mufflers, Distributor Cap/Coil, Ignition Module, All Fluids, Vac. Valves/Hoses, Oil Pan Gasket, Trans. Pan Gasket, Valve Cover Gaskets, Brake Calipers, Brake Lines, Wheel Bearings & Seals, Shocks, New Poly Bushings, New T-Top Gaskets, New Belts, and New Tires. I still have the original tires (sorry don't have the original air) and I removed the spare to take a picture of the rear end but I have it also. This isn't one of those pace cars with 25 miles on it that has set up allowing the brakes & bearings to seized up and the rubber to dry rot.
I have some papers that I got from the previous owner. It is copies, or either pictures that they took, of originals. But it is enough to form true statements about the cars originality. I also dropped the gas tank and got what was left of the build sheet and you can make out the extra options that I mentioned earlier.
This Pace Car would definately make someone a good, fun, dependable vette and the investment would always hold a good return on your money.
OK....,so why am I selling. I have a new toy (see the new boat in the background of the pictures). The vette and the boat both don't fit in the garage and the vette is in the wife's parking spot under the carport. You can figure the rest out.
