If you like your Corvettes with chrome bumpers, matching-numbers, and an unusual color, perhaps this 1972 Sting Ray is waiting for you to take it home. With a lot of originality, a strong-running small block, and that cool War Bonnet Yellow finish, this is a fantastic C3. Repainted a few years ago, this car still looks great, both hammering down the road as well as sitting still where you can get a good look at it. GM offered two different yellows in 1972, with War Bonnet Yellow 989 being the more popular and arguably the more handsome choice. The respray matches equally nice fiberglass work, and theres no evidence that this Vette has ever been abused. Gaps are good, the surfaces are smooth, and the whole thing fits together extremely well. The chrome bumpers, which are a favorite styling element for Sting Ray fans, are beautifully finished, along with the eggcrate grille and optional luggage rack on the rear deck. This is one of those cars where the more you look, the more youll find to like about it. The trim tag says this one originally carried Saddle Vinyl 417, but a few years ago, the smart decision was made to upgrade to fresh black upholstery, and the conversion was done to a very high standard. New seat covers, fresh carpets, and matching door panels were installed, and the dash was refinished. The gauges are all original, and theres an AM/FM/cassette stereo fitted in the center console. Factory A/C is a welcome addition to the options list, as are power windows and a tilt column. The storage area behind the seats is often neglected on Corvettes of this vintage, but this one has been neatly restored with fresh carpets and courtesy lights, which work as intended. The stock 350 cubic inch V8 was rated at around 200 horsepower and 300 pounds of torque, but those numbers were now measured under the SAE net standard, which slashed figures across the board, but not performance. This is also the original, numbers-matching engine and retains all of its stock equipment save for a chrome air cleaner and aftermarket valve covers with etched Corvette crossed-flags on their faces. Theres Chevy Orange paint on the block, and a correct ignition shield has been fitted, so it runs like it should. A TH350 3-speed automatic is the engines travelling partner, and the sucker sounds fantastic through the dual exhaust with proper mufflers and rectangular tips. Showing signs of careful maintenance and clean living, the chassis is solid and rust-free and the floors are excellent, so this is a car you can buy with confidence. Correct Rallys wear 245/60/15 Goodyear radials that have a lot of life left. Documentation includes the owners manual with Protect-O-Plate. This is a great chrome-bumper Stingray with no needs, a great look, and wonderful road manners. Call today!
