Car history: |
You are looking at a 1968 Road Race Inspired Corvette convertible. It is a one-off built car. This vette has had a complete ground up frame-off restoration. Every part of the build has been documented in pictures, and the full restoration was posted on The Corvette Forum with corresponding threads, as part of our supporting vendorship for thousands of members to see. Basically, no secret or unknown here. A CD containing over 600 pictures of the build from begining to end has been made. This is as documented a restoration as you will find anywhere. This car was built by 2nd Generation Automotive Restorations with the purpose of capturing the look, feel, sound, and performance of a vintage race car, in a street able package where it can be enjoyed all the time not just at the track. Body was completely stripped and painstakingly restored to show quality, paying close attention to fitment of panels and straightness. The paint is pretty much like glass. L88 flares were reworked, and front spoiler has been incorporated into the nose. The paint scheme is one-off designed by us. The frame was nut and bolt restored with all new or rebuilt components. 502CI Scoggin Dickey built BBC makes 575HP and 600ftlbs of torque with pump gas. Brand new M22 4spd. trans. Completely rebuilt 3.70 rear. All other suspension components are new including trailing arms. Rear spring is a 5 leaf Daytona, 550lb front coils, Koni shocks. Custom built fuel system of our own design made specifically for these cars. Headers and side pipes were custom made by Stahl. Minilite wheels are by P.S. Engineering. Interior is mostly new and features a custom 6pt. roll cage welded to the frame. There is way too much. The result of our work is what you see pictured. Every show this car has attended, has resulted in a first place finish, including at the Rolex Vintage Festival at Lime Rock Park in CT. It also received an award at Corvettes at Carlisle. It has been photographed by two magazines for upcoming features. The best thing about the car is driving it. It runs and drives great with no issues. It has more power than most would ever need on the street, yet it has great, reliable street manners. Car has less than 1000 miles since being built. The car has 55k original miles on it, but has only had about 600 miles since the complete restoration. The original color is code 988 cordovan maroon. The car has power windows and tele column. The ignition system is MSD. The carb is a HOLLEY 750DP. Clutch is Centerforce Dual Friction. Cooling is provided by a BE COOL module system. This car does NOT run hot on the hottest day!!! Brakes are Stock and ALL NEW. The side pipes have Hooker MAX FLOW inserts installed in them. Fuel cell has a 19 gallon capacity, and lines are AN braided front to back. Dash pad and gauges are original to the car. Console, seats, e-brake cover, carpet, door panels, and storage compartment lids are new. Seat belts are RJS. 55,000 miles. September 4, 2008. |
