Car history: |
Seven Hills Motorcars is pleased to offer this completely numbers matching 1972 Corvette convertible with a 4-Speed. It has only 49.270 original miles and a ton of potential. The car is finished the very rare and desirable color combination of Bryar Blue over Black. This is the original and correct color scheme, verified by the trim tag pictured below. Only 1,617 Corvettes received Bryar Blue paint in 1972. This car runs well, drives well, and is totally usable in its current state, but has some room for improvement. Even still, this is least expensive numbers matching, chrome bumper, convertible Corvette that runs and drives I have seen on the market period. The low mileage is supported by the clear Ohio title, pictured below, showing the mileage as "actual."
Exterior: This Corvette basically looks in person just as it does in the photos. It appears as if this car has had one light respray in the original color. The doors open and close well. The convertible top fits well and operates easily as it should. There are no major spots or blemishes in the paint that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. I have done my best to accurately and objectively photograph the car and show all of the flaws, but some are too small or cannot be picked up by the camera. One should really view the car in person to get the best and most accurate idea of what the car really looks like. The left hood latch needs some adjustment as it doesn't close properly and I have not had the headlights up. The car does have some rust around the windshield. The convertible top is in very nice shape with no rips, tears, or holes. The rear window is clear with no yellowing. The tires appear to be almost brand new.
Please note that all of the glass on this car, the windshield and the "Astro Ventilation" door glass, is date coded and original as each piece predate the car's body build date of February 7, 1972 (G07). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage.
Interior; The interior is almost all original and for the most part in very good condition. Lucky, the only items that are really worn inside the car are the ones that are the easiest and cheapest to address. With some new seat covers and carpet this interior would look fantastic. The seats look just like they do in the photos. Please note that these are the original seats. The dash is not split or sun faded at all. The door panels are in great condition with no cracking around the arm pad, which is so common on this style Corvette. I have not pulled out the seatbelts to see if they retract properly. The original pedal pads are not excessively worn, and as one can see from the pictures, show normal wear for a car with this mileage. The original radio actually works and gets decent reception.
Mechanical: This car is in decent mechanical condition. The car is totally usable in its current state and there are no issues that immediately affect the drivability of the car. The previous owner was driving the car regularly until he sold it to me. The car starts right away every time, runs well, and idles well. The car drives terrifically; it is tight on the road and at highway speeds. The clutch feels good and the car shifts well. There is no smoke when driving the car, just one quick puff when it is first started. The brakes do not pull to one side or the other. The previous owner just installed a new cam, lifters, and gaskets for the top end. This car features genuine Hooker sidepipes. With all of that said and with the miles being so low, the car probably sat for a period of time in the past and could stand some improvements all around. There are some items on the car that do not work such as the wiper door and horn. There may be other troubles with the car that I have possibly overlooked so I would suggest that the buyer inspect the car in person if possible. None of the problems I have noticed make the car unusable in its current state, but in an attempt to be totally honest I must disclose them. All of the gauges work but the oil pressure gauge, which just stopped since we have had the car, and the obvious exception of the clock. The turn signals work. The blower works and blows correctly on all settings. This Corvette is still a pleasure to drive, especially with the 4-speed and top down on a nice day.
Overall Condition: Overall this 1972 convertible is optioned well and is a very desirable Corvette. With new paint, seats, carpet, and some other items this car could be worth more than twice the asking price. Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing, and as one can see, this car very original and correct. The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in the past 10 years. The "Chrome Bumper" years have not had the detrimental over inflation that the mid year Corvettes have suffered from and have become the most collectible Corvettes in my opinion. They are all solid investments for a collector. Cars like this are the Barrett Jackson stars of the future. One could enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than your purchase price.
