Car history: |
here is a very cool and rare Corvette! its a 1970 LT1 convertible! only 1287 LT1 cars were made in 1970 and its believed that only 500 of them were convertibles. How many still exist?? not many thats for sure! very low VIN # too, this car was built very early in 1970! This one has been sitting since 1976! make no mistake it needs a full restoration, buts its a very cool car to save! The body of the car did not escape the 70's unfortunately and does have small wheel well flares and no front bumper. it also must have had a wing bolted on the rear at one point. other than that it is very straight and has nice body lines. the right rear quarter has an area where it is cracked and will need some repair work done (see pic). The interior is complete but is very dirty and needs a serious cleaning and de-mousing. it does have a tile/tele column which works properly. also someone added some glue on fur to the seats and door panels. not sure the condition of the seats under the fur. it has the original spare tire and tub assembly. the convert top is toast, the ignition key was lost years ago so no keys are included! the front windshield is cracked but door glass is good (manual windows). it has vintage slotted mags all around with polyglass tires that sotra still hold air. large tube sidepipe exhaust (brand unsure but prob hooker) the frame is rotted in the usual places!! the birdcage looks ok from the exterior but i can see some rust near the vin plate, i would just assume it is rusty since im not taking it apart to inspect every inch of it. again make no mistake it needs EVERYTHING!. the rear has the HD bolt on U-joint caps, the car has its original numbers Muncie transmission (not sure if its an M22 or M21 though). it still has its original Transistor Ignition and the original alternator, i believe its the original distributor as well (numbers matches up correctly, see pic). the LT1 engine was replaced under warranty in 1976 with a CE coded one and the car was not driven right after that was done back in 76! the block and heads are 1976 as far as i can tell. it has a cast aluminum deep oil pan, I have not checked the numbers on the pulleys and water pump to see if they match. it has a Weiand intake and Holley 800cfm double pumper. it may be the original air cleaner but i am not sure. the valve covers are gold moroso aluminum ones. it has a 1962 corvette radiator in it (no clue why) and a vintage fiberglass flex fan. everything adds up to this being an original LT1 car from the owners story back in the 70's to the 6500 tach redine, Ti ignition, single 3/8 fuel line etc etc. I am trying to acquire the original radiator and intake manifold and possibly the carb, i have seen the parts in person but not sure if i will be able to own them or not... the original LT1 heads may also be avail, all those parts would be extra IF i can even get them, no promises on that! this is a very cool car and should be restored to its former glory! I dont have the time to give it the attention it deserves so i am offering it for sale, who knows when you will see another project LT1 vert for sale! the car predates titles, but will come with a valid NH registration, that is all that is needed to register and title it in another state. NH does not issue titles to cars this old, please google NH title laws if you have any questions about that. It does roll freely and the steering column is not locked so transporting it shouldnt be a problem. ONE LAST TIME, THIS CAR NEEDS EVERYTHING!!! IT HAS NOT RUN SINCE 1976!! I AM NOT MAKING ANY ATTEMPTS TO START IT, CLEAN IT, OR DO ANYTHING TO IT, WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET! 91,074 miles from the odometer. Color codes from the trim plate. Assembly date is A12. Sold for $7,500. November 13, 2015. |
