2) Beautiful 1972 Corvette resto mod. Drivetrain consists of a LS1/6 speed combo courtesy of a 2000 F-body(Camaro/Firebird) professional installed orienting the shifter perfectly in the stock shifter location. This is the most important part when installing this engine/trans combo in a C3 Vette. Engine harness has been professionally converted and PCM has been performance tuned for this application. -The body: A very clean and straight body and chassis. Frame is solid and no flaky rust or rot as you commonly see out there. Body is super straight with a beautiful paint job that is deep and clear. The color is the original somewhat rare steel cities gray code 988. Hood has been updated to the LT-1 flavor which is my personal favorite. Undercarriage is not show condition and could stand for a little elbow grease detail but not terrible. All seals, door jambs, top cover, hood underside nice and clean. Convertible top clean and soft, operates as it should and in very good condition. -Interior: Beautifully restored with new components and carbon fiber inserts in console and door panels. Seats are from a C5 Corvette mounted to C3 tracks and work real well for both comfort and looks. Gauges have been upgraded to white face Autometers including a clock! Audio system has been upgraded including stereo, speakers and amplifier. Shifter is nice and tight. Interior is restored very nicely and ready for cruising. -Drivetrain: As mentioned earlier, a modern LS1 5.7L engine backed by a 6 Speed transmission that starts and runs perfectly. Transmission operates properly through all gears with no bearing noises or synchro issues. Exhaust is full dual from LS1 factory style manifolds to Flowmaster mufflers with factory style tips. The exhaust sounds perfect, just the right amount of aggressiveness without being annoying or drone. Cooling system modern as well with electric fans, engine runs nice and cool. Air intake is also a modern style cold air feed from the grilles through K&N filters. The beauty of this set up is reliability and fuel economy. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this across country. -Wheels & Tires: Staggered custom made Boyd Coddington wheels 17" front 18" rear wrapped with Michelin Pilot sport tires. Combo has a real good fit and appearance as well as improves ride and performance. Brakes rebuilt and operate properly. -Chrome & Glass: All in very nice condition with no pitting or imperfections. My camera was set to low quality for easy uploading so the pictures do not do this car any justice. The paint & body quality and color are much better in person. 10,000 miles. July 20, 2010. 1) 1972 Corvette Stingray Convertible with LS1 motor/T56 6-speed manual transmission. A beautiful restoration with very rare original Steel City Grey paint, C5 corvette leather seats on C3 tracks, Boyd Coddington Rims, Michelin tires, 4-wheel power disc brakes, C5 cold air induction and dual K&N filters, all new gauges, performance tuned PCM. Very smooth driving, extremely fast and 100% reliable! Very low mileage LS1 and 6 speed transmission. This car truly seems to be a one of a kind. I have not come across another Steel City Grey 72 Vette with the LS1/6 speed package. Interior is very nice with C5 corvette leather seats, new black carpet, new gauges, C5 steering wheel, CD Player, 6x9 speakers. Very crisp and clear sound even cruising with the top down. This car has been restored with its original Steel City Grey color. This color is very rare and only used on corvettes. The finish is a base coat clear coat and is near flawless. Beautiful deep, glossy finish. The soft top is black and in very good condition. Michelin Tires and Boyd Coddington rims are new and really go well with the car. Ordered custom sizes to fit the front and rear with a deep dish for a style that really compliments the C3 body style! Front rims are 265/40 ZR 17 and rear are 295/35 ZR18. The restoration of this Corvette is between a show car and a driver. You can roll up to car shows in it and win multiple awards, but it is also built to drive! The combination of the LS1, 6 speed trans, cold air intake, the performance computer program and the relative light-weight C3 fiberglass body really set this car apart and it will fly down the road. Truly a pleasure to drive. Colors from the trim plate. Built date is H23. August 26, 2009. |
