Car history: |
1968 Corvette Convertible. Matching numbers drivetrain. 327/300 HP Automatic. I did a frame off restoration of this vehicle and have only driven it 1500 miles since completed in 2005. The only two things I did not restore are the hard top and the AC (compressor, condensor and hoses). Factory options include A/C, 308 Positract rear end, Auto Trans, Red Stripe tires, Vinyl black hard top, and AM/FM radio. I also have the original tank sticker. I bought this car in 1994 from the person who owned it since 1970 and lives in the Waco TX area. The things that could still use attention are the tach cable (broke shortly after putting the car back together), oil pressure gauge (line was leaking so I unhooked it from the block), completing the AC/Heat system (hoses and compressor), automatic choke system and a small stress crack (1-2") on the left fender by the hood hinge. This crack is not too visible and it's not moved since I put the body back on the frame. I spent close to 8 years restoring this vehicle in my garage during my spare time. Could have been done faster, but work, family and the expense caused me to take my time doing the project. The things done by professionals are the paint and engine. I took this car down to the frame and had every nut and bolt replated. The car has never been in a major accident. The only damage has been a small crack in the back drivers corner and the nose which were all repaired by the previous owner and then checked and verified when I had the body off the car. I have extensive photo's of the restoration process which are hard copies since most of it was done prior to me ever having a digital camera. 1,500 miles. Colors from the owner. October 5, 2008. |
