1968 Corvette 427 L88 Convertible With 2 Tops. 1968 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Original Owner. Car has always been garaged and covered even in the hardest of times. The car was well known in the NYC/Long Island street racing scene in the 1970s. |
Other details: |
Full frame off restoration was started in mid-2014 at Hawk Restorations in Mooresville, NC and completed in Fall, 2017. The restoration was to the bolt level (original bolts) including all mechanical parts engine, transmission, rear differential, exhaust, and suspension. Interior remains original. I have all documentation and pictures from throughout the restoration process. The car was restored to drive. |

Car history: |
Original owner and purchased the car in September, 1968 from Reedman Corporation in Langhorne, PA. From the Vin # the car was manufactured in May 1968 making it one of the last 1968s. The car has both tops and has the rare Tobacco interior (TO-V) which is not listed as an interior color for the original British Green (983) exterior color. Protecto-Plate is in my name. The car was converted to a blue-printed and balanced L88 in 1970. I have all original receipts. I blended a special green paint in 1970 which was lacquer and contained two ounces of 24Kt gold leaf dust. It now is painted the same color as in 1970. have the original L-88 12:1 pistons, and stage III camshaft (plus many other parts). The original OK Custom side headers are gone, parts were replaced in the mid-1990s with a milder cam and 10.5:1 pistons in order to drive on public streets. |
