Car history:
I'm the third owner of this car and I got it from a family friend that bought it in '70 so I know the car my whole life. I've had the car for the last 5 yrs, and build and treat it as a "driver" which is sadly something people dont really do with old vettes anymore. This is a #'s matching car even though it may not look it right now. the car is a 327/350 horse 4 speed posi car with almost zero other options.
First the good stuff, in the last year I did the clutch, brakes, complete front end, shocks, u-joints, rebuilt the whole E-brake set-up, wheels & tires (5 ea.) etc. then about a month ago I pulled the motor it had about 30k miles on it, it had been redone about 8 years ago, and put a cam and lifters, all new gaskets and set it up with the polished 2x4 set-up and cleaned and painted everything. Then I hung a "chambered" exhaust on it and I also blasted painted and wrapped the headers so everything looks and sounds killer. Now The car starts and runs great, no overheating or charging problems but the car needs to go to a real shop that can jet the carbs and set-up the timing to maximize its performance I haven't done that yet but it runs and drives great straight out of the box just runs really rich right now. So looking at the pics and the details I've given should give you an idea where this car's at.
Now the not so good. The car looks killer at 10 feet it has some cracking and chipping, the car was tapped in a store lot in the front bumper at 1mph but any weak point in the fiberglass in the front of the car chipped the paint and the interior looks great but the door panels dont hang on so good and the windows rattle but this is all nothing new. Also after driving the car a while the rear makes a little noise, it needs the clutch packs greased I just haven't opened the rear yet, it works fine though. All in all the car is Bad Ass though.
Now to be clear the long block thats in the car is the matching one camel heads etc. I have the exhaust manifolds and the aluminum GM intake so the motor can go back to stock I never had the right carb or dizzy though. I also have the steering wheel and the car came with the roulette style wheel covers and I have those too. Also as far back as I remember the car had a GM big block hood and yes I cut a hole in it, it looks killer but when you paint the car theyve gotta finish the edge of the cut too. I just cut a clean hole and thats it so far. This car is no Rat Rod or junk or anything like that, it's a street machine, driver. 88,000 miles. May 27, 2010.
