| Per previous owner Bob Rafferty: Vehicle purchased at local estate auction at the end of 2014. (Working) odometer reading at that time was 26433 miles. According to family and friends, this Corvette was purchased by the 2nd owner in 1979 from an individual in Las Vegas Nevada as an investment. It was stored in his wood working shop and was periodically started and moved whenever some wood working needed to be done. Nobody recalls seeing this gentleman driving the car on the streets of Kokomo, Indiana. When acquired from the estate in late 2014, a new gas tank and brake calipers were all that was needed to make the vehicle street worthy. It was then driven regularly (on the apparently 1977-1978 vintage, tubed Goodyear GT Radial GR70-15 mounted on 1967 Corvette wire wheels with knock-off adapters). About 1800 miles were added and the car was sold to the current owner in September of 2016. Current owner: Stephen Parker This Corvette was an unbelievable find for me. This car was built the same day I was born and only 2 hours away. I bought the car from Bob based solely on his good word that it was a solid vehicle, I had only seen the pictures. He really undersold it. Once I got the car home (now brother to 3 other Corvettes), I expected to find an older restoration and probably a lot more miles than the odometer said. I thought it would be a solid foundation for a project restoration. But as I poked and prodded I realized that I had actually purchased a time capsule. This is an actual 28,000 mile 1970 Corvette. I even like the fact that original owner added some Vegas-style mods to it (he had to change the color to black, add some side pipes and get some flashy wire wheels to make a statement on the Vegas strip). I now have to heavily document this current condition and do some searching to find older DMV/title info to help legitimize the mileage. Other than a few minor non-working items this car starts and drives down the road as well as any other Vette in my stable. It is in unbelievably good working, original condition. I am privileged to have acquired this prime example. Thank you, Bob. |
