Restoration and Current Condition: The restoration process was done by Pacific Corvette in Portland Oregon, The leader in Corvette restoration world, and the final results shows a very high level of professionalism. When it comes to the most exclusive Corvettes, Pacific Corvette is a well known and recognized company at Barrett-Jackson, RM (where I purchased this vehicle) and other well known Exclusive Automotive Auctions. Corvettes can be challenging cars to restore, but the guys who did the restoration on this one have been doing it for living for many years and dont cut any corners. You can clearly see the quality of work on the door jams, under the hood, and all around the vehicle when looking at details. It does not take much to see that this vehicle has been well maintained and taken cared of even before the restoration. With only 55K original miles and no accidents of any kind and professional restoration the engine works as a well tuned Swiss watch, transmission shifts smoothly, the Vette starts right away, and drives with no pulling left or right. No leaks, scratches, dings of any kind. After restoration this Vette has been garage kept and driven carefully when the weather permits. The Rally Red paint is brilliant, deep and rich, and it's probably safe to say that paint in 1968 never looked this good. The car looks excellent and drives exceptionally well for its age. All the functions, besides few listed below, works as expected. Chrome trim and interior look just as good as they did from the factory back in the days. The interior, console, dash have been nicely refinished, and all the gauges are fully functional. Brand New Convertible Top easy to install and uninstall in a matter of few minutes. This vehicle will be ideal for an individual who appreciates luxury, comfort, performance, unique look of this timeless work of art while do not mind spending a few bucks to make it a perfect. There are 2 issues that still need to be addresses for a complete restoration. The A/C does not currently work. I was told that it needs a new evaporator core, expansion valve and dryer new lines ($300 parts + labor). The Electric power window switches went bad as well and will need to be replaced. The trim piece of the front grill needs a minor adjustment and there is a minor crack on rear bumper that needs to be touched up. I think the above mentioned items are minor and should only enforce the sense of pride and ownership while been addressed by the next owner. Other than those few minor things the vehicle is in top shape. Conclusion: Overall, you are looking at the rare opportunity to own extremely sexy masterpiece of automotive manufacturing that proven to be only more and more valuable over years as the time itself. The best part is that you will not have to pay the top dollar that I paid for it at the RM Auto Auction, you can have it at a fraction of its true worth. It does not matter if you are looking at this deal as an investment or addition to your car collections to drive on weekends you cant go wrong by buying this Corvette. The condition of the car and quality of the restoration make this car hard to come by and definitely one of the best looking 1968 Corvettes you can find !!! I have a clean and clear Texas title in hand and ready to make a deal. $35,900.00. August 20, 2011. |
