Car history:
All original 1971 LS5 454 4speed with Air conditioning, including original paint! War Bonnett yellow paint has never been repainted and the black interior is still original. All original bonding seams are still visible and paint is thin in some areas from 38 years of waxing. Car has only 56,000 original miles and is still in the original owners name on the title. This is a great example of an un-molested original car which falls within the Bloomington Survivor status. Includes the following options: A31 Power windows, C60 Air Cond, J50 Power Brakes, LS5 454- 365 HP, M21 Close Ratio 4 speed, N40 Power steering, UA6 Alarm system, U79 AM/FM Delco Stereo, Rear Luggage rack. Car originally came with the PT7 optional white stripe tires. Since the car was not driven since 1991 (note the VA inspection sticker on the windshield), I have gone through and replaced all hoses, belts, brakes, seals etc that would potentially be an issue. I also had factory exhaust installed as the original had a couple of leaks. After replacing the fuel tank and lines with fresh 93 octane it started fine and drives good as well. All factory annoying items are still functioning including the reverse lock out, neutral safety switch and the key reminder buzzers. The car is still in the original owner's title. The brief history is as follows. It was purchased at Wilkerson Chev in Tulsa on July 7 1991 where the owner traded in a 1961 Olds convertible and financed the balance making payments of $159.75. The owner was military and made two tours overseas. On one tour he took the car to France with him but drove it very little due to the high price of fuel in Europe. You can see in the docs photo the I have the GM Overseas brochure that was given to him regarding shipping and use overseas. On the other tour of duty the car was put in storage for the 3 years he was in Vietnam. The owner and the car ended up at Ft Belvoir VA where my uncle acquired it in March 1991. You can see the photo with the thin whitewalls when he bought it. He drove it 35 miles home had new Goodyear tires installed and it was parked in his garage alongside his 69 SS396. After becoming a father and having knee surgery either car got much more than starting every now and then. I acquired both of these cars from my uncle this year due to his health and trailered both of them to Georgia. Only Georgia bill of sale has been signed over not the title. Documentation includes original warranty docs and protecto plate, original title, finance papers, owners manual, build sheet (removed from above fuel tank). Car Runs and drives great with all matching number engine , Trans, and rear end, Car has only had regular maintenance items changed such as brakes tires, belts. I do have the original Ignition shielding for the car I just never reinstalled it. Also have the original alternator, (rebuilt one on the car). VIN number sequence is correct on the motor, trans a rear end. Radiator and overflow tank are original just pressure checked and repainted black. The A/C is all original and intact and has just been recharged with R-12 (as original but hard to get theses days). The A/C may need a pressure switch as it kicks in and out. The rear diff still has the red tag intact to indicate use of Posi fluid only. I just replaced the carpet with a correct loop pile reproduction set from Ecklers as front floor carpet had stains under the mats that could not be removed. 56,569 miles from the odometer. March 13, 2009.
