Car history: |
I am the third owner. The previous owner had owned it since 1976. He is a good friend of mine and his info will be included. The car was dissassembled in 77 for a" restoration". Needless to say I bought in pieces in 2008. I have had a blast redoing this car to todays standards with respect to its heritage. I will explain. THIS IS A REAL L-79 350 horsepower 327. (motor #s are 185403264 v1025ht easy to verify) the trans is a m-21 4-speed. both of these have been completely rebuilt at Rancho Automotive in Rancho Cucamonga Ca. The motor is 10.5:1 with a crane roller cam. Runs great on premium unleaded. The rear end is original with brand new trailing arms and bushings. Brake system is all new including stainless calipers and rotors. Power steering is new. IT LOOKS ALMOST AS NICE ON THE BOTTOM AS THE TOP!! The radiator is all aluminum (while not ncrs correct it wont wet its diapers like an oem unit). I put 70"s style lt-1 aluminum valve covers on it but have the originals. THIS IS A NO-HIT BODY! It did have a couple of minor cracks that I documented prior to paint. There is a pic of some of the factory fiberglass with date codes and all). The paint job cost over $4500.00 and looks it! Bumpers have been rechromed. The top was replaced last week with an Al Knoch top and professionally installed by one of their installers. It looks flawless. All of the glass is original and date coded. The interior is very nice but not quite completed. The seats have the original covers, and they look way better than most of the repros. I had them dissassembled and refoamed so they are full and feel great. Carpet kit is new. The door panels and weatherstriping is new. Tires are mounted on 69 8" ralley wheels that have been powdercoated for durability. The caps are very nice and the beauty rings are new. The BFG radial T/A's are brand new. A cool item is the spare, as it is the original bias-ply from 68 (it is worn a bit and not road worthy, but still very cool). No headers! The factory exhaust manifolds with 2 1/2" exhaust with flowmasters make it sound like a Corvette! This car is mechanically great and currently registered. WHAT IT NEEDS: The interior needs to be tidied up some more. Could use a new dash insert around the speedo and tach as it has some cracks. Shifter boot is missing, the radio needs hooked up. The windshield wiper door needs hooked up. PROBABLY SOME OTHER MINOR COSMETIC ITEMS. Some of the pictures are during assembly. I am very proud of the quality of this car. It was a ton of work done by a real enthusiast. Owners manual and an original sales brochure. I have a clear title in my name so no stories. $19,500. Color codes from the trim plate. Built date is C28. August 20, 2010. |
