BiN $18,500 (Ended) on March 6, 2017. 1) A 1971 Corvette Convertible. I purchased the car less than two years ago and drove it less than 15 times before I decided to rebuild the engine. I wanted a racehorse, but bought a Shetland pony. Here goes the story: the NEW engine is a small block 350 that has been bored 30 over to make the displacement a 355 C.I. Starting with the bottom end, it has a steel crank and steel connecting rods. The pistons are JE Forged 10:50 compression ratio with chrome molly rings. It has a SF flywheel and a new harmonic balancer. Everything in the bottom end has been balanced. The heads are angle plugged GM with 202 valves (Manley valves), triple valve springs, screw in studs and Crane Gold roller rockers with stud bar rocker locks. It has a Competition Cams camshaft, C class hydraulic flat tapped with 487 intake lift and a 501 exhaust lift (nitrous cam) with a standard double roller timing chain. The intake is an Edlebrock torker style with a 650 mechanical seconds Demon carburetor (double pumper) with no choke (All New). There is also an MSD HEI replacement distributor. The transmission is a 3 speed automatic (turbo 400). I have put 250 miles on the new engine to break it in. The paint is an amazing Candy Apple Red and was recently painted by the previous owner (within the last 3 years). It also comes with a hard top. The hard top has a small tear on the lower right side. This car has a factory A/C but it has no gas in it. The compressor seems to work fine (I would recommend having a garage switch it over to R34 gas, the old R12 gas is expensive). The tachometer does not work (it needs to be changed over to a digital tachometer). Since I have changed out the engine, two drivers have nearly rear ended the car in front of them while blindly gazing at me (and the car). 88,000 miles. Paint from the owner. March 18, 2009. |
