Car history:
3) 1969 Chevrolet Corvette with all matching numbers engine, transmission and rear end. This is an extremely original car. I am third owner. 427 CI - 390 HP Turbo Jet V8, 4-speed M20 transmission, posi-traction axle 3:08 ratio, tilt-telescopic steering wheel, soft ray tinted glass, power windows, rear window defroster, like new P215 70R red stripe tires, special wheel covers, factory four season A/C, AM/FM pushbutton radio, original Fathom Green paint and black leather trim interior.
Included with car are the original window sticker ($6,280.60), Pre-Delivery Service Sheet (2/06/69), Protecto-plate, warranty papers, original owner's manual, two original key sets, bill of sale from first owner to second owner, 12/31/79, plus many more original documents and receipts in large 3-ring binder. Starts, runs, and drives perfectly. All lights work properly. Windshield wipers and wiper door work. Paint is over half original and shows its age with some checking (common on fiberglass cars) yet still shines up and looks good as photos show. Lower panels and rear deck are older repaint, probably done when first owner sold car to second owner in 1979.
A car with this low of mileage speaks for itself. But this is not a restored 1969 Corvette. The center air vent outlet grille is loose, replacement part included, the parking / emergency brake console has a small elbow crack, replacement part included, the LH heater duct vent (under dash) has small crack, replacement part included, and the radiator cap installed is new from NAPA, period correct radiator cap to rebuild included. The clock works intermittently and the speedometer works but needs lubricating. The all original factory A/C runs, but needs recharge. Exhaust needs replacing, complete replacement system brand new in box (carbon steel) from Gardner Exhaust included. This is an all original no-hit body and frame. The gaps between the body panels are consistent with factory original.
The black leather interior tells this car's story. It is in excellent, gently used condition. There are no cracks or warping of the dash pad or tears in the seats or door panels. The original storage doors behind the front seats are perfect, which is rare. All gauges look new with no fading to the numbers and all are working. The bright work and trim throughout the interior look near new. The original carpet is in excellent, near new condition. The engine, clutch, transmission and differential all are in great condition. The engine compartment and under carriage remain untouched. It's only original once. Even the smog pump and emission tubes were never removed and still operating as they should.
I originally planned to go for the Bloomington Gold Survivor award and/or NCRS Bowtie Top Flight, but have too many other projects so time to sell. In three years I have put 500 miles on car. I have the title free and clear. The car or the title will not be released until the funds have cleared my bank account. The car is sold as is where is with no warranty inferred or implied. You are welcome to inspect the car yourself or have a reputable company do an inspection on your behalf at your expense. Starting Bid at $29,000 with no reserve. January 11, 2016.
2) As they usually are the year after a major model introduction, changes for the 1969 Corvette were minor, made mostly to remedy problems noted by owners and the motoring media. For starters, the steering-wheel diameter was trimmed an inch for more under-rim thigh clearance, and Duntov pushed through a $120,000 tooling change for the inner door panels to open up a half-inch per side in extra shoulder width. Interior door handles and control knobs were redesigned for safety's sake. The previous dash-mounted ignition switch moved to the steering column, where it combined with the newly mandated column lock for additional security. A warning light was added to advise the driver that the pop-up headlights hadn't popped up completely. Attempts were also made to increase Astro Ventilation flow volume, but the system was still judged to be inadequate. Finally, a flexible dash-mounted three-section map pocket was included to help make up for the lack of a proper glove box. Exterior alterations were likewise minimal; the most obvious was the return of the Stingray designation (now spelled as one word) in script over the front-fender louvers. Another change involved the door handles. New single-lever door-handles replaced the conventional chrome handgrips with thumb-operated pushbuttons. A new headlight washer system was added, and windshield-washer jets were moved to the wiper arms. The already over-engineered hidden-wiper arrangement became even more complex with the addition of an override switch that allowed the vacuum-operated panel to be left up in freezing weather. At the rear, the previously separate backup lights were incorporated with the inboard tail lamps. The frame was stiffened to reduce body shake and standard rim width went up another inch to eight for improved handling. This particular 1969 Corvette is a very special survivor. Showing only 24,865 ORIGINAL miles, this is a true, two owner car that was originally purchased in Summerville Georgia on February 6, 1969. The original owner had the car until December 31st, 1979 when he sold it to another gentleman in Doraville Georgia. We have bills of sale, copies of invoices, original window sticker, protect?o-plate, receipts from new, an appraisal, Corvette Survivor judging forms and more all in a 2 inch thick binder that is included with the car. This is an extremely well documented Corvette that is an incredible survivor. The car has not been judged for Survivor Status but the forms and handbook is included with the purchase of the car in the binder. The original Fathom Green paint is in very good, original condition but does show some cracking as you can see in the photos. This is not uncommon and expected from these cars. The t-tops are in great condition and seal as they should. There are bags for the t-tops in the rear. Both front and rear chrome bumpers are in great condition with only minor pitting showing. Inside, the black leather seats look great and show only minimal cracking. No rips or tears to be found. The only imperfection to the interior is a small crack to the center arm rest. The door panels, dash, carpet and kick panels are all in great condition. Options inside include AM/FM radio, leather trim, tilt-telescoping wheel, tinted glass, power windows, rear window defroster and four season A/C. Under the hood, the correct, numbers matching 427 Cu In V8 runs great. We have checked the numbers and everything is correct that we have seen under the hood. Even the smog pump is still installed! The motor is not highly detailed and in incredible, original condition. Connected to the four speed manual transmission, the car has everything you would want from a 69 Corvette. The tires are BF Goodrich red line radials that are wrapped around the original Special Wheel Covers which are rarely seen. The tires are brand new and less then a year old. The underside of the car is solid with no damage that we have found. VIN number is 194379S714440 and the cars mileage currently shows 24,865 original miles. Color codes from the trim plate. Built date is F28. February 10, 2012.
