Car history:
1980 Corvette, Top Flight Survivor.
This car is an extremely original, numbers matching survivor car with 4,698 miles. It won a NCRS Top Flight award this weekend and only had just over a 100 point reduction from 4,500 points possible. This car was purchased as a gift for a lady named Anna Marie from Illinois by her parents when she was 40 years old. She drove it for a few months and then parked it in a heated garage for the next 29 years. This past February, UPS knocked on her door and offered to buy her home and property so they could build a new terminal. She accepted and had the former Buick dealer across the street sell the car. I bought it and have done the necessary maintenance to bring the car into excellent running condition.

I had Nostalgic Enterprises in Des Moines do all the work and it includes rebuilt wheel cylinders and hoses. The original rotors and brake pads were touched up and still used to maintain originality. I drained every fluid on the car and replaced with new. The wheels had some brake fluid stains so each wheel was ground and re-polished. I tried to find reproduction Goodyear Eagle GT tires but they were unavailable so I had BF Goodrich radial TAs mounted instead. The paper air cleaner ducts were shot so vinyl replacements were put in. The carburetor was removed, cleaned, and adjusted. The seals in the A/C system were replaced and the system works as it should and blows cold air. The tach filter wire and one spark plug wire had been chewed by mice and were replaced. I spent over $4,000 to put the car back in safe and running order. If you want to know how a new Corvette felt to drive in 1980, this is it! The L82 engine runs very strong and everything works on the entire car except the clock.

I just drove it 200 miles this weekend to the NCRS judging event and it is a very nice cruiser. 1980 is the last year for the L82 engine option and this car has nearly every option available that year. I used polishing compound and carnauba wax to bring the paint back to life and it is in excellent condition. As you can see from the photos, there is some surface rust in some places on the chassis but overall it is very clean due to being garaged its entire life. A story was written on this car and it will soon be in an upcoming edtion of Corvette Enthusiast magazine.
