Third owner since 11/77. Running later chevy heads & stock GM 350/350 cam. Axle ratio is 3.36:1. Motor suffix code is V1229CTD. From 1970corvetteregistry.org, on July 11, 2010. The buyer gets the car, a new (top quality) front end, plus parts here described. Ok, first the editorial comments. This is a project car. It's fully drivable, fun, safe, and functional, but it could use work in some areas. I further submit that virtually every corvette out there (and many other models) is a project car in reality. There's always that one more idea to implement or something to fix or improve. This car is mechanically solid. It is fast, sounds fantastic (especially with the tops off & rear window out), and is reliable. I would unhesitatingly drive it anywhere in the country, as is. It needs fiberglass body work, paint, carpet, and some other smaller things (It has a slow, power steering fluid ooze for example). Odo reads ~123K, was at ~38K when I bought it and I've never run it disconnected. I have owned, worked on, and driven this car since Nov, 1977 (that's 32+ years). - 1970 Corvette coupe, 350 cu in, 4-speed Muncie, 3.36 rear posi rear end, - Numbers matching: block, transmission, body, rear end, double hump fuelie heads (replaced in '77), 0.194 intakes, chambers professionally ported and matched to intake, bored over .030 in 1982 (w/engine re-build), forged pistons, 350hp stock hydraulic cam, 3-angle valve job, Teflon seals, bronze guides, hi-vol oil pump, double-roller timing set-up, Holley 600cfm carb and street dominator manifold, Mallory Unilite distributor w/vette mech tach drive, BlackJack headers, 2.5" dual exhaust through turbo mufflers, 1" sway bar in front, rear sway bar too (I think .75"), suspension bushings (excepts shocks) all polyurethane, KYB shocks, no oil smoke from this motor - still quite tight, always easily passed the emissions tests when they were required here (I have the test result sheets around here somewhere). 10.25:1 engine compression, runs fine on 91 octane pump gas, torque just under 400 ft-lbs. The carb is jetted (tuned) for this altitude. If you want to run closer to sea level, I'll include the correct primary jets for the proper fuel/air mixture. - New owner gets my file folder of all paperwork and receipts for this vehicle. - Original tank sticker tough to read but removed and preserved, original owners manual. Will include original t-top bags, distributor housing, shifter, radio... - Stock, 15"x8" wheels carrying 'new' GoodYear Eagle GT 2 tires 255/60R-15 (nice and fat) - still have the factory blue die on the white lettering and the nipples sticking out of the tire sides - I'd estimate less than 300 miles on them. - Brakes are fantastic, changed to SS sleeves and DOT5 fluid, new rotors under 2K miles ago. Even the emergency brake works. Gas tank and sending unit changed replaced with GM, OEM parts at same time. - Transmission, rear differential and trailing arms rebuilt under 3K miles ago. Installed a Hurst, Competition Plus shifter with special shifter stick so looks 100% stock - very nice and tight - This motor runs cool thanks to new radiator, fan, clutch, housing, overflow tank, - Every time I start this engine after it's sat for more than a couple weeks, I fully lubricate the cam lobes and oil channels prior to starter-cranking by pulling the distributor and manually turning the oil pump - I baby this thing and it's responded by keeping in great shape. - Date codes on all window glass are accurate, O.E.M. manufactured (an '80s company no longer in business), NOT a typical, Colorado, sand and gravel pitted car - this window glass is in fantastic shape - Frame rust appearance is superficial, surface only. If you know these cars, you know where they can frame rust - this one's solid. I've never exposed the bird cage, so don't know about that. You likely can expect some to be there if/when you do a full restore. Frame never damaged or hit that I could ever find or tell. Takes and keeps an alignment, tracks like on rails. - Windshield wipers work, door raises and closes on vacuum command by either electric or manual vacuum switches - buyer will receive an intact, no stripped threads, OEM replacement door I picked up as the one on the car should be replaced (>$200value). - Original front springs still strong as ever, rear is 7-leaf, GM stock gymkhana - HERE'S A REAL HIGHLIGHT!!! Sale includes a brand-new, ZIP PRODUCTS manufactured, and fully assembled front end fiberglass clip. Never installed in a car before, I purchased from Zip years ago. Highly-valued, press-molded glass (NOT hand laid) and professionally assembled and complete. Not sure you can even buy one of these any more. I decided this was the best way to restore the front end, but I don't have the time to do it. Back when, it was priced at almost $3000 - not sure today's value, but probably not less. Hood, left rear quarter, and passenger floorboard areas have fiberglass repairs from before I bought the car. Will also include a never-opened container of Eckler's adhesive used to bond it to the car. - Battery maintained on a float charger year round so is in great shape. - Interior vinyl has some cracking in the door panels (original) and dash pad (original) though you have to look very close at the dash to see it. Driver's seat vinyl was replaced, passenger vinyl seat cover is original. Will include the unused passenger cover that came with the set. I didn't have time to do both. 22,443 miles from the odometer. Color codes from the owner. Built date is A21. May 31, 2010. |
