Car history: |
1968 300HP Corvette Safari Yellow Roadster with 55K miles, always older adult owned and not performance modified or altered other than a few exceptions listed below, all of which I have the parts to revert to stock within a few hours of labor. I used to poo poo poo 300HP Corvettes until I owned this one, the 300 HP has 360 lb of torque, the same as the 350HP but at a lower more useable rpm. I installed a $860.00 1969 Corvette professionally rebuilt tilt telescopic steering column to accommodate easier access and exiting the vehicle. The original column is in excellent shape and will be included with the sale. The previous owner rebuilt the rear wheel bearings and added a composite rear spring which sheds 50lb off of the car and makes it ride a lot nicer. The original spring set is available and will be included if the purchaser wants it. This car runs and drives like a car that has never been disassembled and put back together because that is what it is nearly completely stock. The car has American Racing Torque Thrust 15 x 7 wheels with new Radial tires which can be included for $600.00 above the ending price of the auction. The original Rally 15 x 7 wheels that the car was born with will be what is included in the sale with a new set of Firestone G70 x 15 tires. The spare is also original rally 15 x 7 and all the wheels, beauty rings and center caps are excellent. I removed the stock mufflers and put in Corvette aftermarket straight pipes that sound really great with out being obnoxiously loud and I have the stock mufflers to go with the car if the new owner wants them. This also removed about 25LB. The original mufflers bolt on in about 20 minutes. The stamping on the engine is 8s414068 and the vin is 194678s414098, this was a common problem for the assembly workers to invert a number and I was assured by the appraisers at Corvettes Only the engine is original to the car and has never been removed. It also runs great with plenty of power and no smoking or leaking. The transmission and clutch work flawlessly and all the syncros perform well while up shifting or down shifting with no noises or problems. The car has been repainted some years ago and the only area that is checkered is the one in the picture by the passenger door. The rest of the paint shows really well and there are not stress cracks any where else on the body or paint. The headlights operate as they should. The wipers and valance operate as they should. The door gaps are perfect! The seats are respectable and not dried out or uncomfortable. The steering is tight and precise. The car runs at 160 to 180 degrees even in 90 degree weather. This Vette brings many smiles and thumbs up's and it is difficult for me to give it up. I have had many C2 Corvettes and this is the same experience at 1/3 the price. Sold for $18,500 in August 23, 2015. |
