Car history: |
This 1969 Corvette was purchased at an Estate sale in Indianapolis, IN. I learned the second owner purchased this car in 1973 in Frankfort, IN. The odometer shows 38,077 miles and the deceased father thinks this is the correct mileage, but I cannot verify this. At some point is was painted maroon and the rear valance was filled where the tailpipes came out. The motor was rebuilt some 12 years ago and only 500 miles put on the car since that time. The car runs and drives but I would not drive it far until the brakes have been adjusted. The car has Hooker headers and with the car come the new mufflers and outside pipes for these headers. It has had some front end damage but most of this has been fixed. Missing are the exhaust manifolds, original shifter (has Hurst now), distributor and coil (has mallory), ignition shielding, missing AIR system, radiator, and cap appear to be original, fan shroud is busted in a few places. The surge tank appears original with a date of 68K. The horns appear original. The interior will need carpet, seat covers, and foam. The dash and door panels are in good shape. Car appears to have original seat belts and the console around the emergency brake is cracked. The battery box has some damage and has sheet metal repair. To my knowledge, all the outside badging is there except the "C" for Corvette on the rear bar has a broken stud. The outside mirror and gas tank cover is with the car. The only outside parts missing are the rocker panel covers. The spare tire tub is there, but there is some damage to the top and bottom. The hardtop appears to have been red and painted white and has the correct dated rear window. The convertible top has some tears in it. Side windows are original and have some shallow scratches, and the windshield has been replaced. Original jack and handle are with the car. All gauges are in working order as well as the tachometer. It appears this car had the complete front end rebuilt as well as all calipers and rotors. The rear spring appears to be NOS GM spring. The frame is in great shape. This car has the original engine. 1969 Corvette built November 30, 1968. Options: L36 427/390 HP, M20 4 Speed Transmission, G81 Positraction Rear Axle, A82 Head restraints, C07 Aux. hardtop, U69 or U79 AM/FM radio, TJ2 Front fender louver trim. Engine Block 3963512 Cast date K-2-8. Stamp Pad T 112LM VIN 19S709122. Heads 3931063 Left K-1-8 Right J-9-8. Intake 3947801. Carb 7029207 (my book shows 1969 350/350). Trans P9D07A. Car has the Build Sheet still on top of the gas tank. Colors from the trim plate. 38,077 miles. October 13, 2008. |
