Car history: |
What you're viewing here is my personal ride. Not your everyday Vette but a mechanically excellent example of what can be accomplished when you fuse classic collectible muscle car styling with contemporary engineering. Here's what we got. 1970 Corvette LS5 454 big block. Matching numbers everything! All mechanically rebuilt to create an exciting, reliable muscle car that's tame enough to drive around town in traffic when it's over 100 degrees out, yet vicious enough to smoke your friend's SRT8 Charger or Z06 Vette. Starting with the engine: Factory numbers matching 454 big block LS5 equipped with fairly mild roller cam, roller rockers, factory heads (matching) rebuilt with hard seats for today's unleaded fuel, rebuilt matching Rochester Quadrajet carb, matching original exhaust manifolds refurbished, NOS Topshot system all running through brand new exhaust all the way to the tips. See video for an idea of the awesome tone this car generates on youtube follow this link for VIDEO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRPlhhm9u-E. Brand new aluminum radiator painted to look stock as well as high flow brand new water pump and 160 degree thermostat. This car can run all day in extreme temps and never overheat. Electronic ignition with MSD controller, factory Vette plug wires, everything with a fresh coat of Chevy orange. Under hood very detailed. Matching TH400 automatic transmission completely gone through. This car is for the driver who wants to drive in comfort. Chirps between every gear. Rear end is also new with a set of 3:73 gears. Car sits on a nice set of Rally wheels (My personal preference for all classic Chevys). Paint is correct Mulsanne blue with matching interior, very pretty, some flaws. No cracks in dash but door panels have some wear. Seats look very good. New shoulder seat belts installed. All lights and signals work great as well as windshield wipers and clock. New rocker panels. Tires are okay for now but the horsepower is a little too much for them. Haven't dynoed this car since completed but judging how bad I beat an SRT the other day it's gotta be a bit over 500 HP. Don't worry, I'm 47 years old and have only raced the car twice ever (the other loser was a Caddy CTS-V). Paint is very pretty blue but has the typical minor flaws that the Vette purist will criticize. Original radio AM/FM. It's not a show car but a great great looking driver. Gets the "thumps up" everywhere I go. Has the original manual and protecto plate too. Glass is clear and unchipped. February 17, 2008. |
