08/28/2014 This is a car I bought approximately a year and a half ago. I have done nothing but work on this car and buy new parts for the entire year and a half. I had all the body work done and painted along with all new interior and carpet before having the engine redone. The car is near complete but is not yet street legal. There are no mufflers on the car, there are headers with straight pipes (see pics). The power steering control valve is new, but appears to be bad. I have bought a new power steering control valve and will include it with the car (see pic). All the lights do work and I have installed new LED tail lights in preparation for night driving. This is not a car you can come buy and drive home. I have invested over $15,000.00. The car does crank up and drive but sounds like a drag car. It has good brakes and appears to have excellent power. The car has really nice sounding cam shaft, hits a good lick and the throttle response is crisp.
As you know 1979 Corvettes all came with small block chevrolet (350cid). The front coil over springs have been upgraded and this Corvette has a big block Chevrolet 402cid (396 .030 over) with tunnel ram and 2 Holley 450CFM, 10 to 1 compression, mega 280 cam, new roller rockers, lifters, push tubes, guide plates.
Block was cleaned with new cam bearings and freeze plugs before being professionally built and assembled with all new bearings and rings at Quality Machine Shop in Monroe, N.C. (See receipt in pics)
Heads were completely reworked before being professionally built and assembled.
New SFI flywheel & New 2800 RPM stall torque convertor, New high torque mini starter, Aluminum radiator, alternator, water pump, power steering pump, lines & control valve. New upholstery, insulation/heat shield with new carpet, New Pioneer CD stereo and Pioneer speakers - 6x9. New leather bags for T-Top storage when off of car. (See in pics)
The dash still has some loose pieces that need screws, drivers door needs hinge pin replaced, doors need new rubber gaskets, the console shift handle cover needs replacing, there is a crack on the dash, switches on the doors are not wired but they do go up and down fine from the console, the speedometer does not work.
This is a 35 year old car with no rust, see pictures of under carriage. There are many items that need attention, as any car in the restoration process would require. Car has not been driven except around the block, do not know much and have not tested long distances.
