Car history:
This 1971 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray hits all the high notes: a matching-numbers small block V8, attention grabbing paint, air conditioning, and a very attractive price tag. There's something great about the early C3 design. It combines the long and low American look with the flying buttress rear and Kamm-back styling of the Europeans. This car appears to have been well maintained throughout its life, with the fiberglass panels fitting nicely to hug the body's every curve snugly. The code 912 Sunflower Yellow is the factory correct color that has been resprayed at least once in this coupe's life. The earlier C3s are also for the chrome lovers, and so it's very important that the front panel, luggage rack, rear bumper, and all the other brightwork be complete and pristine as this one. Of course, no classic Chevy sports car looks complete without the iconic rally wheels.
It's no surprise that this factory yellow car was also ordered with the perfect complementary interior color, black. It's one of the best hues for the inside because it allows the silver accents to pop on everything from the door panels to the three-spoke steering wheel. Even the switches for the power windows are an attractive silver accent piece. For the driver, the dual pod speedometer/tachometer is in front of you with a full gauge package prominently to the side. You can take off the T-tops and remove the rear window to listen to the roar of the engine singing behind you. If that's not sufficient, there's an AM/FM/cassette radio in the dash, and if you really don't like getting your hair blown around, this is an air conditioned coupe.
Power comes from the original, matching-numbers 350 cubic inch V8, which delivers an advertised 270 horsepower. This one benefits from a heavy breathing Rochester four-barrel carburetor, and it also has a new Edelbrock performance intake (the original one comes with the car for the collectors.) This is mated to a stout TH400 three-speed automatic transmission to give this C3 the flexibility to intimidate through its new dual exhaust or just cruise comfortably on the highway. In fact, this Stingray has plenty of great features that help both performance and luxury. This includes the power steering, four-wheel disc brakes and modern BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires for good all-around good grip.
This Stingray has been cared for so well that it even comes with extras like a car cover, T-top bags, and even Corvette books. This exceptionally nice price is not a misprint so it won't stay long in our showroom. 62,474 miles from the odometer. Color codes from the trim plate. Assembly date is K30. BiN $26,995. November 3, 2015.
