I have my 1981 Chevrolet Corvette For Sale. I bought this car from my brother's boss who has been restoring it for the past 6 years. He said he has over $13,500 invested in it. The car has a beautiful paint job, new exhaust, new suspension (all replaced that I can see-the stickers are on most parts), and many other numerous parts. The car is absolutely beautiful.
The Good- New paint, has been stored inside, new suspension, new exhaust, new motor and transmission. The Bad- The car needs complete interior as it is removed (except for the seats). The motor has been rebuilt along with the transmission but I believe it has a collapsed lifter or a bad camshaft. I drove the car and it backfired thru the carb. We removed the valve cover and noticed one rocker arm did not move much. The motor is clean and gives all signs it was rebuilt and I have no doubt the man I bought it from told me the truth. The best guess is that the lifter is collapsed or a cam lobe was soft from the manufacturer, even though I have found no metal. I planned on going ahead and replacing the cam and lifter that way I didn't have to worry about it. The car has an Edelbrock carb and manifold instead of the factory fuel injection. This was my dream car and look forward to finishing it this summer and driving it. I believe it would cost about $1500 to finish the interior, $500 for camshaft replacement, and maybe $500 in odds and ends, and some OCD and this would be a show car. (In My Opinion) I see some 1981 Corvettes sell for less than $10,000 and I see some sell for over $15,000. The work that has been completed on the car is that of a higher valued car.
Why am I selling the car? It pains me to say that I am a single father and my ex wife thinks if I have anything flashy it must mean I have entirely too much money and she is entitled to it. So I am selling the Corvette and going to invest it in my daughters college fund for when she gets older. Maybe one day my ex will get a job and I can have a toy. Right now isn't the time. Payment will be required within 72 hours of purchase and BUYER will be RESPONSIBLE for arranging pick up of vehicle. I will NOT be paying or contributing any monies toward shippment of the vehicle. You may be able to pick it up or have it picked up.
