Car history:
Updated 06/30/2011 Added owner, pictures, info.
I am listing for sale my 1970 Corvette Convertible. Chevrolet produced 17,316
cars in 1970, and only 6,648 convertibles were made which is extremely low
production due to GM UAW strikes that occurred in 1969/70. The car was recently
judged top flight this month from NCRS. This is the second time in eight years. It
was previously awarded a top flight award at the Waco 2003 meet. I have judging
sheets for the car from both meets. All of the documents and history go with the
car. The car has twice been through operations checks and all functions and
features of the car work as designed.including clock, radio, air conditioning, all
vacuum headlamp and wiper functions as well as the alarm. The car recently
received a top flight score of 96.9% without driving point mileage add ons. The car
is a non smokers car and does not have a musty, mildew or storage smell to it.
Interior has leather smell to it.

The car is highly optioned in Cortez silver lacquer paint code 986, with black leather
deluxe custom interior trim with cut pile carpet wood grain accents, leather seating
and custom door panels 403 code. It has the rare convertible shoulder belt option
A85, two tops C07, both are in amazing unrestored condition, the soft top is black
and the hard top is silver. The car is meant for cruising with a M40 automatic
transmission, C60 air conditioning blowing ice cold, N40 power steering and J 50
power brakes, tinted glass, and has the ZQ3 base engine, 350 cubic inch 300
horsepower highly desired engine for its drivability, torque, and manners. The car
has the U69 AM/FM radio as well as the UA6 alarm system. The car came with PU9
raised white letter tires on original dated rally wheels and original trim rings and
top hats, and the tilt telescopic steering wheel N37. The car has a 3:08 rear end
and cruises all day long at 65mph comfortably. The purchase price from
Summerfield Chevrolet in Flint Michigan was $5094.03 and picked up on June 4th, was ordered on April 8th made on May 22 in St. Louis.

The car has a Delco Remy patent R distributor cap, best way to protect AC 212
filter, has a period correct oil filter red white and blue embossed, it has dill caps
on the original rims. The car has its original date coded factory convertible top
that is priceless and original in its own right..the soft top sat detached under a
bed for the majority of the life of the car with the hardtop in its place. The car also
has 4 proper T3 headlamps that all work. Nice original interior door pads, carpet,
console dash pads, center console and original leather seat covers.all storage
compartments look beautiful including the spare tire well and a nice original dated
jack and handle. The suspension, chassis and frame is in surface rust condition
and structurally excellent. No excessive flaking or rust holes of frame steel. The
original fiberglass body panels are in excellent, sharp edge, unrestored condition,
body gaps are some of the nicest factory finish I have seen especially on a 70s
sharkit is hard to tell for sure but I estimate 80% of the cars paint is originally
applied at the St Louis factory.the original owner stated the dealer did touch up
work within the first month of ownership. The paint has good gloss and minimal
stress cracks chips and defectsit is not is factory. Some body seams
can be seen, but minimal. The headlamp rivet bumps do not appear. Chrome
bumpers are original and in good shape, minor pitting, the emblems are good to
fair with some missing paint and pitsthe other chrome parts like exhaust bezels
are pitted and good/fair but original.

The engine compartment is amazing with just the correct amount of patina and
wear on a documented 49,500 mile car.all of the major components are in place
and all are fully functional a no excuse mechanical car.

Here is what I know is not original to the car, and I do not imply that the list is all
inclusive, only what I knowThe following parts are known to be incorrect.
Battery, Shocks, mufflers, tires..these parts alone represent the bulk of the point
deductions in top flight judging.. I want to mention that the pictures of the engine
compartment show a set of replacement valve covers, the original covers are
currently installed.they are in original paint and patina. Most other deductions
are for condition and can be expected on a 41 year old original car. The
car is a time capsulethe car has been maintained and some of the wear items
have been replaced. The car has had its AC serviced, repacked wheel bearings,
new mufflers, new radial tires, new universal joints, new windshield, rebuilt clock
and rebuilt radio. The brakes have been rebuilt using OEM kitsthey are not stainless sleeved.

Numbers for the car include Engine 70S410022 V0323CTG, cast C1270 casting
3970010, Transmission is C70K-29 70-CK2626, Rear axle is CAL, intake is
3965577 March 20, Exhaust manifolds are 3846559/3989036, Carb is 7040202
April 70, Distributor is 1112020 dated Feb 23, alternator is 1100884 61 amp May
13 starter is 1108430, VIN is 194670S410022. Paper work matches all the numbers.

The car is a very original, unmolested, unrestored, no excuse, highly optioned car.
It has its factory drive train in original condition as it came from the St. Louis
factory. It is completely documented and I have personally spoken to the majority
of previous owners, I have all their contact information. I have the complete
original glove box owners pack, including manual, protecto plate, key envelope,
shims, hardtop wrench and both sets of keys and knock outs. The car has 49,500
original documented miles and has its original hardtop, soft top, chrome, and
paint. The numbers of the major components all match as they are original as
factory delivered including axle, transmission, engine, radiator, starter, alternator,
carburetor, Compressor, distributor, wheels, etc. When I say numbers match I
mean that the casting and assembly dates are in line with the build date of the car
and that they are correct castings and parts for this year and optioned car.and
further they are originally assembled in St Louis. This is not a made up or restored car.

I highly encourage you to personally inspect this car prior to bidding. I do not
imply that my descriptions are 100% correct nor do imply that both Top Flight
awards are not without is incumbent on the buyer to make their own
personal judgement on the originality and condition of the carthe car is sold as
is. It is my opinion that this car is the real deal documented highly optioned car
that has survived 41 years in the hands of owners who have painfully kept the car
pampered in operational order as well as aesthetically original. I drive this car
and it is fun. The car is dependable, easily starts, runs cool, handles well with the
radial tires, and is tight for a 70s shark.

Original cars are original only once.the current markets interest in unrestored
original cars is strong and growing among collectors. This is a car that is used as
a reference car for documenting restored cars.If you want to see how the
General made these cars.take a look. I will leave it to you to take the
Bloomington and NCRS journey for Bowtie and Survivor judging.this car is
definitely a candidate for recognition. I am selling this car to fund my sons college
education. I have a clean title in hand. Thank you for your interest, feel free to
email me with any questions. Check my positive feedback youre dealing with an
honest seller. Shipping and insurance will be the responsibility of the buyer. A
$500 non refundable deposit is due within 24 hours and balance of the purchase
price wired to my account within 7 checks of any kind or cash accepted as payment.
