Car history: |
This Corvette was delivered to RALPH THOMAS CHEVROLET (now POLAR CHEVROLET) in White Bear Lake, MN. First owner has not been able to be located yet (he is said to be some "Bill Simpson" from Tampa Bay area working for a telephone company - GTE - back then. ANY INPUT GREATLY APPRECIATED!). It was bought by the second owner (Arthur W. Kimball - a colleague of Simpson's) from used car lot in Feb 1978. I then bought it from his wife (Arthur passed away in 1979) in March 1992 and had the car shipped to Germany.
Although German registration usually requires change of lighting (Halogen mandatory over here and sealed-beams an "absolute no-go") and some of the electrics, the car passed as was and was able to be kept 100% US - the only change was the addition of a second VIN-plate in engine bay to meet German law.
There only has some minor touch up and/or repairs been necessary ever since.
Mileage: some 91000 at end of 2006.
Update Sep 2008: just received "Second Flight" at the NCRS Dutch Chapter Flight Judging! Mileage: 92814.
Update Jul 2010: new tires. Mileage 94000. |
