Very rare color combination! Restored by Naber Brothers of Houston, TX. 2004 Bloomington Gold award, 2004 NCRS Regional Top Flight award, and 2008 Bloomington Gold Special Collection, a testament to its impressive restoration. This L88 is one of the finest and lowest mileage examples remaining today, and it is one of 116 L88's built in 1969 and one of the 99 equipped with M22 four speed. Engine affirmed original by Al Grenning/CCAS in November 2014. Radio delete car optioned with aluminum heads, power brakes, tilt-n-telescopic, transistorized ignition, M-22, 4.56 posi, J-56 heavy duty brakes, F-41 special heavy duty suspension, SS brakes, air injector reactor, side louver trim, tinted glass, rallys, and Firestone Super Sport blackwall tires which gives this car that sinister look! Most all factory correct type components including the spare, jack, jack tools, T-Top bags, shocks, seat belts, washer system, smog system, shifter, air cleaner, alternator, distributor, hoses, hose clamps, warranty book, owners manual, sales brochure, and T-3 headlights. Documented with owner history, letter from delivery dealer (1995), Al Grenning affirmation, Bloomington certificate and judging sheets, Bloomington Special Collection booklet, NCRS certificate and judging sheets, copy of old titles, restoration receipts, L88 survey, owners manual packet, and NCRS Shipping Data Report. Production date of August 29th, 1969 and delivered new by Wigder Chevrolet in Livingston, NJ (dealer code 345 in zone 35) per the official NCRS/GM shipping data records (SDR). This Corvette represents a high watermark for all Corvettes and is one of the most significant Corvettes remaining today. BiN $850,000 on July 12, 2016. 1) Monterey 2015, Lot S87 The unusual beginnings of this highly decorated 1969 Chevrolet Corvette L88 coupe are detailed in a letter from Tony Franchi, who enjoyed a long career at Wigder Chevrolet in Livingston, New Jersey, the cars selling dealer. Written in 1995 to the cars then-owner Bob Rush of Clewiston, Florida, the letter describes how the original purchaser left the car stored at the dealership for the longest time. When the customer finally arrived to collect his new car, he showed up with a flatbed trailer and winched the L88 onto the trailer deck without it even having been put through a pre-delivery inspection. When asked by a dealer employee what he would do with the car, the customers reply was straightforward: Put it away. Indeed, he must have done exactly that at least for a while, because it never appeared at Wigder again. Flash forward to today, as the car shows just over 2,000 original miles. One of just 116 L88s produced in 1969, the final year of production, it presents in rare Tuxedo Black with a Black interior, Rally wheels and Firestone Blackwall tires. It still carries its factory-original drivetrain, comprising the storied L88 427/430 HP engine with late-production open chamber aluminum heads, a Muncie M22 Rock Crusher 4-speed and 4.56:1 Positraction rear end. In addition to the L88-specific F41 special suspension, K66 transistorized ignition and J50-J56 special power disc brakes, the car features bright front fender louver trim and Soft Ray-tinted glass. Serial# 728007 documentation The car was awarded both Bloomington Gold and NCRS Regional Top Flight honors in 2004, a result of the careful restoration by the Naber Brothers of Houston, Texas, that encompassed NOS parts including five Firestone tires. It was then invited to the 2008 Bloomington Gold L88 Invasion Special Collection, further adding to its accolades. Documented with the tank sticker and the aforementioned letter from Wigder Chevrolet, this top-tier collector Corvette L88 comes complete with judging sheets and certificates, restoration receipts and owner's manual.
