This one's a keeper! BiN $35,900 (Ended) on March 14, 2018. 1) Every now and again you are lucky enough to come upon a truly original car. These vehicles usually belong to collectors passionate about keeping their cars just the way they were when they came from the factory (but not always). Today, we are fortunate enough to be in a position to offer such a car to you but its circumstances are far from ordinary. Purchased new in 1969 by a gentleman in Chicago, this car was driven just 20,750 miles before he died suddenly in 1974. His wife was not able to drive the car nor was she able to part with it so as a result, it sat in a garage collecting dust for 37 years. She was a pack rat herself so this year, when she passed away, the children were left with the daunting task of cleaning out the house and carriage house. It took them a month or so to locate the keys to the carriage house and when they did, they opened the doors and could not see the car. After sifting through the mounds, they found the car with four flat tires, hidden under piles of books, papers and boxes a little worse off for having been used as a storage rack but never the less, a 1969 Corvette in original condition! A decision was made to sell the car and we were fortunate to be the first ones on the scene. What we found was a one owner car with original everything. The original emblems and badges (that still retain their vibrant colors after all the years); The original numbers matching mechanical components from front to back, low and original miles, the original tires (must be replaced to drive the car), brakes, everything! All these things and more separate a good car from a truly remarkable car. Once back East, we went through the car from top to bottom and spent $6,000 to get her running as she should. Any work we did was documented and all parts needing attention were rebuilt not replaced; as a result, there is literally nothing for you to do except drive the car and we have kept her original to a tee. This amazing 1969 Convertible Corvette (with a removable hard top) has the 350ci - 300hp motor, with a 4 Speed manual transmission and power windows. The paint has a few issues as shown in the photos but it is 100 per cent original and is in very good condition. The convertible top is in great condition but needs a new rear window as the original was damaged before we took possession of the car. The steering wheel, the gauges, seats, and door panels are all in great shape as are the badges etc. Everything works, all the Fiber Optic lights, the radio, the vacuum pump and lights, windshield wipers, power windows, everything. This car is a survivor and you can now own this wonderful piece of automobile Americana with a unique background. $34,900. 20,793 miles. December 12, 2011. |
