Posted 10/31/2016 Original numbers matching 1981 Chevrolet Corvette. 350 V8, automatic trans. 59K original miles. This car came loaded with all the desirable options from the factory such as power locks, power drivers seat, power antenna, power mirrors, rear defrost, mirrored glass T-tops, aluminum wheels, and two tone paint. The car starts right away every time, runs well, and idles smooth. It drives great and feels nice on the road and at highway speeds. The car performs quite well overall. The radio works as do all the exterior lights, horn, wipers, power windows, and all of the gauges. The blower works on all speeds. The power antenna and power locks both work. Both power mirrors work in all four directions and the power drivers seat works in all directions. I was told when I purchased the car that the a/c works but needs a recharge but I never charged it up...it's a Corvette, take the tops off right? The vacuum system for the headlights works correctly. Fresh tune-up and carb rebuild. Great tread on the BFG's, newer brakes, exhaust (brake system recently checked and bled), fuel pump, alternator, door hinge pins. Even comes with a trailer hitch (currently uninstalled). I had a reprogramming kit professionally installed in the transmission a few years ago so it shifts much faster than stock. The interior is nice, has a few stains in the carpet and a couple cracks in the driver seat leather. The body and paint still look good but could use some love. The driver front fender has a crack where an slight accident may have happened at some point in its life and has been re- sprayed on some areas of the hood which is evident. Passenger fender and hood could use some realigning. Not perfect but over-all great head turning car.
The history of this car as I know it: I bought the car about 5 or 6 years ago from my Uncle, who basically parked it indoors in his collection of cars for over 10 years, he drove it very little. My Uncle bought the car from the original owner approximately 16-18 years ago. I'm the third owner. I have not tried to locate the build sheet but I did confirm the numbers on the motor and transmission matched the vin. Again, this is not your perfect Corvette by any means.
If you're looking for a turn-key reliable, numbers matching car that is a trip to drive and then fix up slowly while still driving it, this is your car.
