Car history:
Seven Hills Motorcars is glad to offer this beautiful numbers matching 1971 Corvette Coupe in nice driver condition and absolutely priced to sell. It has only 68,570 original miles and is loaded with options such as air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power windows, and tilt/telescopic steering column. This Corvette looks good, runs great, and drives well. This Corvette's engine Numbers Matching with the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the engine pad, which is pictured below, and the engine is original to the car. The transmission is also original with VIN stamp on the main case. The Mille Miglia Red (973) over Black (403) color combination looks great on the car and is original, verified by the codes on the trim tag pictured below.
Exterior: The Mille Miglia Red exterior is in good driver condition. As one can see in the photos, the finish has fine gloss, smooth finish, and deep shine. The wheels and center caps are in good condition with a great finish. The BF Goodrich tires have about 80 per cent tread left. The chrome and other bright work shows well overall for a driver. There are some imperfections around the car that are visible in the photos. There are a few blemishes around car that were too tiny to show up in pictures, but nothing else that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. The left door glass could be adjusted to fit better. This car has no rust issues. The frame is totally solid around the key hole area in front of the rear tire and we have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield or birdcage. These are the most notorious spots for rust on a C3 Corvette. We have included many photos of the underside to show how great it looks.
Interior: The Black interior of the Corvette is in decent original condition. The seats look in person just as they do in the photos with some split seams and typical wear for its age. Please note that these appear to be the original seats and skins. The carpet is in nice condition as well with no holes or stains. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The radio works. The dash is in good shape with no fading or sun damage, there are two very small spots in the center that are visible in the photos.
Mechanical: This Corvette seems to be in good mechanical condition. It starts right away every time and runs well. The car is an good driver that feels nice the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs quite well overall. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving. The car runs cool and does not overheat. The transmission shifts well. This Corvette has plenty of power and is quite fast. Also, the engine compartment is clean and detailed as one can see in the photos. Please note that the car still has he correct and original air cleaner, valve covers, and upper ignition shielding. The horn works as do the indicators, exterior lights, and power windows. The blower motor for the a/c and heater works on all speeds . All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock and the speedo has a squeak as one can hear in the video. Some of the fiber optic system works. There is some play in the steering wheel. The entire vacuum system for the headlights and wiper door works; their complete operation can be viewed in the video. The wipers work with the door raised by the switch under the dash. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with T-tops out on a beautiful day.
Overall Condition: Overall, this 1971 Corvette is in wonderful driver condition. Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing and as one can see, this car is quite correct. There are photos below of the VIN stamp on the engine block, suffix code, engine assembly date, transmission VIN stamp, transmission assembly date, and the rear end code. This car does have a Salvage-Rebuilt title. According to the previous owner the car was originally sold in Texas. In the early 1980's the car was stolen and quickly found. After the car was recovered it was deemed a theft-recovery and the title was branded as salvage for that reason. In my opinion and based on our experience the Chrome Bumper cars from 1968-1972 are the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now. The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort. Sold for $18,900 on November 3, 2016.
