Car history: |
General Information:
This is an original 1971 Corvette with a matching numbers 350 / 270 hp V-8 with its original M-21 4-Speed and a 3:70 Rear Axle. I was told the Corvette had a frame on restoration in 2000 and the mileage at the time was 85,000. The odometer now shows 88,000 so approx. 3,000 miles have been put on the car since the work was completed 11 years ago. With the restoration the engine, trans, clutch and differential were gone through along with parts of the suspension. Also paint, convertible top, chrome, interior etc. This Corvette drives out very nice with little creeks and rattles. The engine pulls very nicely and the trans shifts very smooth as it should.
Exterior:
This 1971 Corvette sports its original exterior code 912 "bright" Sunflower Yellow. The paint is very shinny and overall very nice with a few very small stone chips from your typical driving conditions. The weather stripping was replaced at the time of the paint job and has no cakes or tears. The chrome was replated at the time of the paint job as well and is very presentable. The black convertible top is in very nice shape with no cuts or tears and has a clear rear window. The Corvette rims were painted the correct Rally Rim Silver and are in very nice condition and the tires are the reproduction Firestone Wide Ovals. (Could probably use a good set of Radial tires for a smoother ride). The stainless looks great and has no dings or dents. The emblems look fine and were probably replaced when the Corvette was painted. The lights and windshield wiper doors open as they should and function properly. The frame on the car is perfect and shows no signs of rust or even scale. Very Nice! There is a spare tire and the jack is included as well.
Interior:
The interior of this Corvette is in great shape and sports the correct "403" Black Leather seats. I'm assuming the seats were recovered, the carpet replaced and the door panels replaced as they are in perfect shape. All of the gages work including the fiber optics. The correct shifter and radio are in the car and both function correctly. Overall I would say the interior is a good 9.
Mechanicals:
Mechanically the Corvette runs out well. I was told the engine, transmission differential and suspension were gone though when all of the work was completed Back in1999-2000.The brakes stop on a dime and do not pull the vette to the right or left. The exhaust was replaced and has very little miles on it. At this time I do not know of anything that the Corvette needs to be driven. Drop the top, turn the key and go!
