Car history: |
I bought this corvette at an auction of cars confiscated by the state. Unfortunately this means I have little information about the cars history. I have put several miles on the car and it runs quite well with tight steering and good brakes. I have been under the car and can find no evidence of previous damage. A previous owner has gone to the trouble of painting the frame (see pictures) this was not a body off paint job and looks to be brush work but does brighten the underside of the car and make examination easy. The worst part of this car is the paint. It does not resemble any GM color I've ever seen. It sort of looks black but could be really weird brown. The wire wheels which are painted black do not quite match. In addition, the paint is chipped and flaking off in several locations. The bumpers have been painted as well. There is a small chip or hole in the fiberglass at the front of the drivers door (see pictures). Another problem is that the interior of the t-tops has been colored red with a product that is now flaking off. The black vinyl underneath seems to be in good shape. I scraped the paint on the front of the engine to find it is not the correct block for this car (v1113tbf) which is correct for a 1970 c-10/20/30. I've not located the head casting nos but suspect that these are not the original heads either. They do not have the necesary holes for the air conditioner brackets. Those things being said the car runs very strong and sounds like it is mildly cammed. It has an aluminum intake manifold and holley carb along with chrome valve covers pan and transmission pan. Headers have been installed and thos along with missing holes prevent AC compressor mounting. Frame shows no evidence of rust or accident damage. This is a great driver corvette with a very nice interior, good tires and looks great going down the road. Closer inspection show the kind of flaws that any 40 year old car will demonstrate absent retoration and trailer queen status. This is one of those cars where a painter and detailer can probably show huge profits. All in all this is a great solid car that could present very highly with minimal work or investment. Color codes from the owner. Built date is P26. VIN not certain (Was 73xxxx). March 2, 2010. |
