Car history:
For many '69 is the true winner in C3 Corvettes. This was the year of the Stingray, literally. 1969 was the first time it appeared as one word on the fender of these Corvettes (it had been two words or missing from previous years). Contrary to popular folklore, not all Corvettes need to be red. This one is in its factory-correct shade of Riverside Gold, and it looks as sharp today as it did in '69 thanks to a professional respray within the last few years. Early C3s are from a time before large fender flares and exaggerated lines fussed with the car's original shark-like appearance. Plus, these have some of the best chrome. This predator has a 10,000-watt grin thanks to new bumpers, but the originals are also part of this sale for those who want to stay true to the factory. And that's the overall impression of this coupe. It looks as good at the day it left the St. Louis facility, right down to the iconic and shiny Rally wheel package.
The saddle tan interior is a nice complementing color to the gold exterior. An enthusiast's level of care has been taken with the bucket seats, and now the new the panels and carpers can match this level of quality. From behind the three-spoke steering wheel you get a commanding view of the large dual pod speedo and tach as well as the full gauge package to the side. There's also the convenience of the original AM/FM stereo and power windows. The coupe seals up nicely with new door rubbers, but we bet this is going to be more of an open-air experience for you. After all, those T-tops are huge fun, and this is one of the years the rear window is removable. So you get the wind-in-your-hair experience of a convertible, but with added safety and security. Best of all, the factory air conditioning means you can stay cool with the roof off any time of year.
The engine is the original, numbers-matching 350 cubic-inch V8. You can tell just from a quick glance that this one has been given a few extra components to help with the presentation and performance. It includes an Edelbrock intake, carburetor, and air cleaner, as well as the shiny new Corvette valve covers. Those who love originality will be happy to know that items like the factory intake and valve covers also come with the sale. But what these upgrades do is make a better driving experience as it fires up nicely, rumbles with confidence, and pulls away from every stoplight with more authority. In fact, this is a true driver's Corvette with new ball joints and bushings in the front end keeping it tight and crisp on the road. Add to this the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, four-wheel disc brakes, and the full independent suspension, and this is the perfect go-anywhere sports car.
This Stingray comes with its original colors, motor, and even the owner's manual. It also has all the right upgrades without sacrificing its factory-correct spirit. That's why we know you're looking at a golden value that's going quick. BiN $33,995. April 15, 2016.
