Car history:
2) 1968 Corvette convertible with numbers matching 427/390, 4 speed. I bought this car to restore back to the original British racing green. I bought it driving and running as you can see in the pictures. The 427 engine has been rebuilt and it runs great. As you can also see in the set of pictures, I have stripped the car down to restore it, but due to time restraints and a major move from Houston to the St. Louis area, I just do not have the time. I bought the car in Texas around 3 years ago. The car was born British racing green and has had no modifications. All the chrome removed has been re-chromed that needed it. Dash is on perfect shape. The car was totally complete and drivable before we started to take it apart to paint and restore. Any hardware or parts that needed ordering were ordered new from Corvette America and come with the car. Whatever was not ordered and can be re-used is competently labeled for easy locating and come with car. The only thing we did not order was the convertible top. The entire frame for the top is complete. The car is in excellent condition as far as steering, brakes, transmission, engine, suspension and every other mechanical aspect. Like I stated, I was driving it before we started the work as you can see in the pictures.
This vette was originally manufactured as a basic 427/390 convertible with no air and as a manual and no power steering. It is one of those that you have to drive as opposed to all the power add ons. Very fast!!
We have already stripped down the door jams, hinge pillars and the inner convertible top lid as seen in the images. The body is ready to start preparing for paint. There is no major body work to do. I have spent over $6000.00 in new parts mostly at Corvette America
Below is a list of new parts I have purchased that come with the car:
RH door panel Black w/trim, LH door panel Black w/trim, Carpet Black 80/20 manual, Interior Screw Kit, Seat Cover Installation Kit, Washer Bottle Black w/o A/C, Heater Hose Water T, Exterior Tank Strap Bolts, Heater Box Gasket Kit, Wiper Door Actuator Boot, Plug wire SPRT, EXP Tank BRKT Fender rivets, Seat bottom bumpers with bolts, Wiper door actuator pivot bolt, Wiper door ACTR rod nut, Heater Hoses w/ GM lettering, Heater water shut off control valve, VSC Black, Hose clamp kit 427, EXP tank hose and clamp set, Carpet underlayment 12 piece, EXP Tank cap, Hog Ring Pliers, Seat Foam 4 piece set, Gas line Pump Carb 390, Gas line tank pump, Seat cover clip installation kit, Wiper Door actuator, EXP tank straps, EXP tank Bracket, EXP Tank, Emblem Nose, Emblem rear letters, Door handle outer LH w/trim parts, Door handle outer RH w/trim parts, Speaker, Rear Comp Liner Center assembled, Body Lock pillar Conv LH, Body Lock pillar Conv RH, Front air Dam. This vette has the hard top which comes with the car. It is black. All the white spots in the picture is compound that flew on it and I never cleaned it off. The previous owner had purchased a new complete A/C system with the correct pulley, but I wanted to keep the car original and was not going to install it, but the entire system comes with this deal. I have put a couple pictures of the system, but there is much more that is not pictured that comes with the A/C which is your option to use. I have all the receipts for the parts we purchased. This vette can easily be worked, painted and reassembled and be made a beautiful high dollar 427/390 big block convertible corvette. The mechanical and undercarriage is completed. The gas tank has not been put in yet. The water pump and hoses were taken off when we replaced the from cross member.
Unfortunately we had to buy a new numbered windshield (Which is boxed and comes with the car) because we cracked the original accidently. We also bent the windshield top trim molding and it will have to be re-done.
I am starting the bidding at my low price, as I am losing money at that. Any first bid or bids thereafter will buy the car with no reserve. All parts purchased are still new in the original boxes. No bid at starting $20,000 with no reserve on July 30, 2016. Sold for $20,000 on January 29, 2017.
1) 1968 Convertible Corvette, 427-390hp, correct number matching motor and transmission. Motor has been completely rebuilt down to the last bolt by Danny Gordon, Gordon Motors, Denison, TX. Needs carburetor as the one that came with it didn't match. Mr. Gordon estimates the motor at around 475hp currently and verified that every part that he worked on was original with the date codes correct, etc. Car is in decent shape but needs interior completed with replacements, needs new bushings on suspension, new exhaust, and needs paint. It needs a tiny bit of body work on the back top edge. I would estimate the work to be around $15K, and get a $7K paint job to make the car amazing again.
Original paint code is British Green, someone slapped a horrible $200 white paint job on it some time before. Trim tag is in place. There is no rust issue on the car that I have seen. I have had it up on a lift and it was a very pleasant surprise to me at the time that the frame and undercarriage were in such great shape for a 40 year old car. I have $36,250 in the car but about $7K of that was due to a rip off by a local restoration company that is now out of business (Camaro World- Tracy Fields- watch out for him). There are new parts such as the radiator cowell and others. The interior picture is from before and it looks worse now, to my knowledge all parts are there. This will be a very sweet convertible corvette with matching numbers once complete and a terminal value of somewhere in the $45,000 to $53,000 range based on current sales. This engine will pound the pavement too. 169,000 miles. Colors from the owner. October 26, 2008.
