THIS ULTRA RARE CLASSIC CORVETTE IS ONE OF THE MOST WELL KNOWN IN CORVETTE ENTHUSIAST CIRCLES. IT IS ONE OF THE MOST HIGHLY DOCUMENTED, WELL PROVENANCED CORVETTES IN THE WORLD. THE ORIGINAL OWNER POSSESSED THIS VEHICLE FROM THE DAY HE BOUGHT IT NEW IN 1969 UNTIL APRIL OF 2005. AS PER VIN NUMBER, IT IS ONE OF THE LAST L88 CORVETTES BUILT FOR THE 1969 MODEL YEAR. INCLUDED WITH THE VEHICLE ARE VOLUMES OF FACTORY DOCUMENTS, DEALER DOCUMENTS, RESTORATION RECEIPTS, RESTORATION DOCUMENTATION, COMPLETE PICTORIAL AND TEXT HISTORY SINCE 1969, JUDGING SHEETS AND VERIFICATION, ETC. ALSO INCLUDED IN THE PROVENANCE ARE JUDGING RESULTS AND INSPECTION SHEETS. THIS CAR HAS RECEIVED BLOOMINGTON GOLD CERTIFICATION, NCRS NATIONAL TOP FLIGHT AWARD, GOLD SPINNER AWARD, AND TRIPLE CROWN AWARD. IT IS ONE OF THE LOWEST ORIGINAL MILE 1969 L88 CORVETTES IN EXISTENCE. PER RESEARCH, IT IS ALSO BELIEVED TO BE THE ONLY MONZA RED/ SADDLE TAN INTERIOR L88 CORVETTE PRODUCED IN 1969. The Corvette was purchased new on December 12, 1969 from a dealership in Illinois. Copies of dealership paperwork are included below in the photo section, along with the factory documentation. The original owner set aside many of the original parts and prepared the car for drag racing. Information on the drag racing history is also included in the file. It was retired from drag racing and restored back to stock in the early eighties. In 2005-2006, the Corvette was again restored, this time a high level rotisserie restoration. In 2006, NCRS issued a National Top Flight Award. Also, in 2006, it received a Bloomington Gold Certification. Additional awards include, but are not limited to, Gold Spinner Award and Triple Crown Award. The L88 has been refinished in the original Factory Monza Red. The four original wheels are mounted on the car. Three of the original tires are still in place. The original spare is present and has never been mounted on the car. Numerous print and internet articles concerning this L88 have been published. It was the feature in the 1983-3 edition of Corvette! "The Sensuous American". At the time of sale by the original owner in 2005, the odometer displayed 2,231 documented actual miles. Odometer now displays 2,251 miles. Note: This vehicle may be moved or driven a short period during this sale, so the mileage may vary by just a few. Receipts document nearly every part that was purchased and all work that was performed on the car. This is one of the most extensive receipt files we have ever examined. As stated above, there are volumes of documents included. Documents include, but are not limited to, Window Sticker, Retail Order Form, Vehicle Invoice, Pre- Delivery Inspection Sheet, Warranty Booklet, Owner's Manual, Protecto-Plate, Tax and License Receipt, Payment Receipt, and Copy of original title in the original owner's name.
