|1971 Corvette Convertible 4 speed Original A/C car. I have owned this car for 5
years now. No issues and no problems. Only selling because I have a 1970 LS5
Vette that is in the final stages of restoration (can't justify two almost identical
convertibles)! with another new car on the way this month and I need some room
in the garage for my other vehicles!
Here is the information I have on the car. Let me first say it IS NOT A NCRS car.
It is however a great solid running steel bumper convertible Vette that looks like a
$50k car from a few feet away. It will attract attention and win at local car shows.
It is great to hop in and drive on the weekend w/o worry that you are going to get
a scratch, ding, rock chip, etc. I have probably had more fun with this car in the
last 5 years that any Vette I own simply because it is easy to jump in and drive.
I will describe the car as best I can, but I encourage you if you are in the area to
come look at it yourself. I have bought and sold dozens of cars on ebay and have
never been disappointed nor had a complaint. I have more pictures than these
and can send any close up or special requests. I rate condition on 1-10 scale. 10
being a NCRS never driven trailer queen and a 1 being a rust bucket barn find. A
5 is an average running car that needs work in all areas to even be road worth or
show worthy. I would rate this car, overall, around a 6.5-7. Not a perfect driven
$50k car, but definitely a long way away from a '5' driver that needs lots of work.
Very solid with no obvious signs of body panel replacement or glass work. Paint
is above average qualityagain prob a 6-7 overall as is most of the car. Looks
great from a few feet away, but not a NCRS or GoodGuys show winning paint job.
Hood has had a L88 style scoop added to it. You can see a few seams where hood
was glassed on. Can also tell where they glassed in radio antenna hole. Original
color is blue on blue. Looks much better as a red on black car! Headlights work
and vacuum doors work.
Very Strong NOM 350 with headers, Edelbrock Performer Intake, Edelbrock Carb,
Mallory distributor and coil. Just guessing but it feels like 375 HP. Transmission
and clutch shift well. NO slipping or jumping out of gear. Holley T-Bar shift handle
and linkage. A/C is all there but not currently working. I have never driven the
car with the top up so I have never seen the need to get it working. Blower Fan
works.....may just need freon fill??? Chrome alternator and a few other under
hood dress up items. I did add all new custom exhaust pipes and Flowmaster
mufflers to car when I bought it. Original style square chrome tips. It sounds
awesome. Mileage listed is not known to be correct. Selling as milage exempt due
to age. 7.5 on engine compartment.
Mostly stockreplacement seat covers at some pointcarpet is decentrear
compartments show some wear/use. All gauges work except speedo. Have new
cable that I will try and get installed or it will go with car. No radio currently. NOT
an original radio delete car. Again, a nice solid driver quality interior that you are
not afraid to leave outside at a car show. The white convertible top is BRAND NEW.
Never been used. See pics. Rear window is perfect. I do have a hard top I will
let go with the car if my reserve is met. It needs restoration and paint; I do have
the rear glass for it as well. Overall about a 6-7 here too.
WHEELS / TIRES:
Original factory rally wheels with almost new BFG tires. Again, they were new
when I bought car 5 years ago..I have probably put on average about 300 miles
a year on it since I have owned it. A few trips up to Lake Texoma in Spring/Fall
(120 mile round trip) and mostly weekend cruises around town with my son. I
would say tires have 90+% tread left. Solid 7 on wheels tires.
MECHANICAL ISSUES OR WHATS WRONG WITH CAR???
Other than what I have listed above, not much. Have no idea about originality of
transmission, rear end or other parts. I know its Body Tag denotes a blue/blue
car. Engine is not original. Hood is wrong. Seats are not covered in correct
pattern/style. Ignition Switch / Key is very wornwon't lock out completely.
Could probably use a brake job sometime down the road. Car has been
registered in Texas as an Antique Vehicle. This keeps you from having to get it
inspected every year. All you do is pay a fee (around $50) every 5 years and
you're good to go!! 1971 Texas license plate go with the car.
If you are looking for an original Vette, this is not it. It would be a very solid
starting point for a full restoration since there are few factory A/C convertibles out
there. It is an awesome attention getting steel bumper Stingray Convertible at a
fraction of the cost of a fully restored car.
