Car history: |
True barn find Corvette. This is a three owner all original numbers matching 72 Stingray with 56k original miles. The car has been a Chicago area car since it was new. It was originally owned by a dealership and kept until 1978 by the dealerships owner. It was purchased by the second owner with 17,813 miles on it. The second owner kept the car until earlier this year when I purchased it. The car was garage kept its entire life and currently has 56,722 miles on it. The bird cage and frame are rust free and in excellent condition. The car is a steel cities gray (Code 988 and 1 of 2346 for 1972) on black with the original paint. The steel cities gray color was only available for two years! The paint was touched up on the right rear fender due to the previous owner scratching the paint while parking the car in the garage. The fiberglass was not damaged, and the car has never been hit. The rest of the car's paint shows its age with a few nicks and scratches, along with overall minor cracking from its 43 years of age. The corvette body rivets can be found on the body showing its originality. The car is a low option car with the 454 big block (1 of 3,913 for 1972) and the M21 Close Ratio 4-speed transmission (1 of 1,638 in 1972). The car still retains the original numbers matching engine and transmission. The interior is all original and in overall good condition with minor wear from its age. The dash is perfect and does not show any cracking, or wear. Again, this car was stored inside its whole life and was the owner's baby. He even kept a record of every time he touched the car documenting what was done and the mileage, which is included in the sale of the car. This car is truly as close to original as the come!!! Since I pulled the car out I had the original alternator rebuilt due to the bearings starting to go. We replaced the battery along with all of the fluids and the car runs, drives and stops perfectly. The car is a non A/C and non power steering car! As you can see in the pictures the previous owner replaced a few hoses and belts over the years as he enjoyed the car. This car could be enjoyed as a driver or would be a perfect car for a minor cosmetic restoration. Color codes from the trim plate. Built date is K19. 56,722 miles from the odometer. $30,000 with reserve met. June 1, 2015. |
