Car history: |
Body on restored 1972 Corvette Coupe in Elkhart Green with Black interior. It is a 4 speed with factory air conditioning and in excellent driver quality condition with only minor detailing to be a show winner. The paint is excellent and newer, the interior is original in in mint condition. The motor is the original matching number 200 horsepower 350 that has been built to LT1 specs and has an aggressive idle with great power. We just spent $3,000 making the air conditiong work properly and ensuring its in excellent condtion and ready to show and drive. If you want an affordable Vette that will appreciate in value while you drive and enjoy it.....then look no further!
We have photos of the body on restoration but no dates as to its completion. The engine stamping does appear to match the car but I make no guarantees about the other items. From the photos of the restoration, I believe this car was originally War Bonnet Yellow (Gold) and switched to Elkhart Green when restored. There are many different definitions of "driver" quality restored muscle cars: this is mine. Its a car that can be driven without fear of a puddle of minor wear, but is nice enough to take to local shows and present well and most importantly, is mechanically sound and solid. That is the best description of this car I can offer. The paint is excellent, but does have a few minor flaws typical of a Vette including a small crack in the corner of the hood and a couple minor chips. Its a professional job that has been sanded and buffed to a show quality shine and the base coat/ clear coat paint is easy to maintain. The interior is original and in excellent condition throughout. The underside is mostly painted black and not detailed for show (i.e. the driver quality car). Mechanically, this is one of the nicest older Vette's we've had to date. It is tight, solid and rattle free. The motor is built to LT1 specs with a strong idle lope that is aggressive and still street drivable. The weakness on this car is some of the chrome and thats easily addressed should the new owner want to take this car to the next level. The door handles, bumpers and luggage rack are original and could use replating. They are very acceptable as a driver, but could really make the difference between showing and winning at the local cruise in.
