Car history:
1969 Chevrolet Corvette big block 4-speed convertible. I've owned the car for 12 years. It was my daily driver at first, then went to sunny-day-only driving, then sadly to just sitting the last several years. I'm only selling it because I don't drive it anymore and have realized I will never have the time to restore it like I planned.
The car can best be described as a driving project. Nothing on the car is perfect... but it from 20 feet it looks good and it still turns heads going down the road. To be show quality plan on redoing everything on the car. To be a daily driver again it doesn't need all that much... I'll try and cover all it'd need below. Engine: The car was originally a 390 hp 427. Unfortunately that engine is long gone. Currently under the hood is a 396... believe it's date coded to 1968-69, not a Corvette engine but still a good running Chevy big block! It always starts right up with no knocks, smoke, drips, etc. Engine has an Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum intake and a Holley 750. Hooker Header long tube headers are installed running to a dual 2.5" exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers. Transmission: Car was originally a Muncie close ratio 4-speed (also missing). It currently has a GM 4-speed but I don't know much about it other than it works with no grinding, bad noises, etc. It shifts great, however the linkage is sloppy and may need adjusting. If you aren't used to it you can jam it up by putting pressure in the wrong positions and it takes a good bit of "wiggling" to free it. Again, this is just in the shifter/linkage (external) and NOT in the transmission. Once you get used to how it likes to be shifted it works fine... it doesn't lock up on me anymore so I haven't fixed it. Rear: I believe the car came with 3.70s but now has 3.08s (pumpkin swap from another '69 Corvette). No whining/grinding noises or anything, gives good gas mileage low rpms at cruising speeds. Body: The car was originally Lemans Blue. It was white when I bought it but I had a cheap red paint job put on the car a few years ago. It would look better with some good wet sanding as it has some runs/orange peel. Also there are some cracks, nicks, and scratches here and there. It needs new paint and body work to be nice in my opinion. I traded the stock big block hood for the unpainted L88 style hood you see in the pictures. It hasn't been bolted on or adjusted. Hinges/bolts are there to do it, just hasn't been done. The headlights are Ecklers. I have a lens cover kit with both clear and painted lenses to cover the lights. The cover kit currently isn't permanently installed... will need to be to drive with them at speed. Interior: Originally blue, now black. Tach, water temp, oil, and gas gauges work. Speedo doesn't (would if connected correctly with the transmission) and the clock doesn't work. The battery gauge may or may not work... it sits near zero most of the time? Again to make it nice I'd replace everything like door panels, seat covers, carpet, panels. That covers the basics I guess... here's the list of what I'd fix to make it a daily driver. Brakes. Replaced the calipers and booster years ago and it stopped great! However I've let the car sit for years without driving it. When I just got it out again the brake pedal was dead. I tried manual brake bleeder but it only gave part of the pedal back (brake light still on as well). It might work better if it's bleed the old fashion way using two people, or it might need the reservoir seals replaced. I'm not sure what the fix is... it does need to be fixed though before the car is driven at high speeds. Wipers. They sometimes work but most of the time they don't. RainX works well if applied :). Heat. Heater box is removed. If you want to drive in the cold or need defrost you'll need to get a new one. Weather stripping. Cold air can come in if when the top/windows are up. If you are a top down driver I wouldn't worry so much. Horn. Quit working, did at one time. June 23, 2008.
