| The original Star Spangled Corvette - A California icon purchased new by Captain America. See more on the notable Corvettes page. This Corvette has been owned by Proteam Corvette in the past. Axle ratio is 3.36:1. Could be a M21 gear box. From 1970corvetteregistry.org, on July 11, 2010. Matching number 350/350 Horse Power. 94,027 miles, believed to be original. Casting # 3970010. Date code E229. Pad # V0107CTJ 70S401187. Optioned with ice cold factory air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power windows, custom Corvette stereo, power door locks with remote alarm, and tilt-telescopic steering. 4spd stick transmission. Positraction rear end with 3.36 gears. The engine and transmission were rebuilt approximately 10,000 miles ago. Other recent mechanical work includes; new master cylinder, calipers, brake lines, new shocks, u-joints, wheel bearings, A-frame bushings, idler arm, clutch fan and new exhaust. The vacuum system is in working order. The car runs and drives excellent. Paint code 972---Classic White with custom Star Spangled Banner paint. The paint is in very nice condition, always garaged. The chrome is in very nice condition. Very nice rust-free California frame. Excellent body with no sign of repair. Trim code 407---Red vinyl interior. The interior is in excellent condition. New carpet, new seat covers, very nice original dash and door panels. All gauges are in working order. Nice original T-top inserts. The weather stripping is in good condition. Newer BF Goodrich TA's with Vintage America mags. 1970 was the lowest production chrome bumper Corvette, with only 10,668 coupes produced. Only 4,910 were produced with 350 Horse Power. Very few of these came fully loaded with air. The original tank sticker is still on the gas tank. Historical Note This is the original "Star Spangled Corvette." A California icon which has been featured in many magazines and posters. Bought new in 1970 by David Dugan, alias "Captain America". Dugan had his car painted with his trademark "The Stars & Stripes" (50 Stars). He also purchased the American mags. The personalized plates (1-USA) were updated in 1984. The car comes with one of the original Corvette posters, and a pair of Dugan's custom made red, white and blue leather Foursheim shoes. 94,027 miles from the odometer. December 28, 2009. |
