Car history:
Seven Hills Motorcars is glad to offer this beautiful 1972 Corvette Coupe in excellent condition and loaded with options such as air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, and tilt/telescopic steering column. It has only 77,575 original miles. This Corvette looks terrific, runs well, and drives great. It is finished in the iconic and highly desirable color combination of Mille Miglia Red (973) over Red Vinyl (407). This is the correct and original factory color scheme verified by the codes on the trim tag pictured below. We have this car priced to sell and are offering an excellent opportunity to own a very desirable Corvette at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come as the market on C3 chrome bumper Corvettes from 1968 to 1972 is absolutely red hot right now and on the rise. Please peruse all of the photos, video, and other information below to get a true sense of how nice this Corvette really is.
We have put 45 miles on this Stingray and during that time is was a pleasure to drive and completely reliable. While this Corvette is not completely numbers matching it does have a 3956618 engine block, which is a casting number that was used on Corvettes in 1969. The engine also has a 1969 casting date. The transmission is original and numbers matching with the last six digits of the VIN, 511504, stamped on the case and pictured below. This car rolled off the assembly line on January 14, 1972 (F14).
Exterior: The Mille Miglia Red exterior is in great driver condition. As one can see in the photos, the finish has dazzling gloss, deep shine, and smooth finish. Both doors open and shut nicely. The wheels and center caps are in good condition with a great finish. The Goodyear Eagle tires have about 80 per cent tread left and are correctly sized 225/70 R15. The chrome and other bright work shows well overall for a driver. There are a few blemishes around car that were too tiny to show up in pictures, but nothing else that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. This Corvette has absolutely NO RUST ISSUES. The frame is totally solid around the key hole area in front of the rear tire and we have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield or birdcage. These are the most notorious spots for rust on a C3 Corvette. We have included many photos of the underside to show how great it looks.
This Corvette looks as good in person as it does in the photos.
Window Date Codes:
Driver: YN - The Y denotes October and the N denotes 1971 meaning the driver's side window was made in October of 1971. This is correct as it predates the body build date of the car.
Passenger: VN - The V denotes December and the N denotes 1971 meaning the passenger side window was made in December of 1971. This is correct as it predates the body build date of the car.
Rear: YN - The Y denotes October and the N denotes 1971 meaning the rear window was made in October of 1971. This is correct as it predates the body build date of the car.
Please note that the Astro Ventilation door glass and even the pop out rear window is date coded and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of January 14, 1972 (F14). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage.
Interior: The Red interior of the Corvette is in great condition. The seats are in excellent shape and look just as good in person just as they do in the photos with no rips, split seams, or excessive wear. The carpet is in nice condition as well with no stains. There is on spot of wear in the passenger foot-well, but is covered by the mat and not very noticeable as one can see in the photos. The radio works well. The dash is in good shape with no fading or sun damage, there is on small crack on the right side. There is a scratch on the left window that is visible in the photos. This car has not been smoked in and there is no aroma of cigarettes at all. The jack is still with the car and stored behind the passenger seat. The spare tire is also still with the car. The interior looks as good in person as it does in the photos.
Mechanical: This Corvette seems to be in great mechanical condition. It starts right away every time, runs well, and idles well. As stated above we have put 45 miles on the car with no issues at all. It is an excellent driver that feels nice the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs quite well overall. The steering feels nice and tight. The transmission shifts well. This Corvette has plenty of power and is quite fast. Also, the engine compartment is clean and detailed as one can see in the photos. The horn works as do all the indicators, wipers, and exterior lights. The blower motor for the a/c and heater works only on high speed. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock and the coolant and speedometer read a bit low. This is an original factory A/C car, but some of the A/C components have been removed. The vacuum system for the headlights and wiper door works and their complete operation from both switches can be viewed in the video. The wipers work with the override switch and only when the washer button is pressed. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with T-tops out on a beautiful day. The car runs and drives as well as it looks.
Overall Condition: Overall, this 1972 Corvette is in very clean condition. In my opinion and based on our experience the Chrome Bumper cars from 1968-1972 are the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now and out of those years 1969 and 1972 seem to be the most desirable. The excellent condition and iconic color combination make this car especially important and difficult to duplicate. This Corvette always gets a ton of attention driving down the road. It is very apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owners. The prices of C3 Corvettes have increased drastically over the past years. They are secure and wise investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort. BiN $20,900 (Ended) on November 3, 2016. BiN $18,900 (Ended) on November 24, 2016.
