Car history: |
The rarest of the rare- a 1968 Triple Black Corvette Convertible. One of 708 Black Corvettes made in 1968. 79,000 original, 2 owner miles. This car is one of the few true Black 1968 Corvettes, although many have been repainted Black over the years this one is original. L79 327/350hp engine, matching numbers, 4 speed transmission, one restore/repaint. Not perfect currently but very, very good condition for a rare beauty such as this. New soft top, new exhaust, new repaint by previous owner (decent but not great). New Bilstein shocks all the way around. Looks like most of the main components are survivors like door panels, seats, etc. The car is amazing and has been garage kept for most of its 41 years. Rust-free and in great driving condition, starts right up every few months when I take it around the block. Original pink slip from dealer. Purchased in Oct 1967- very early car 1210 on the VIN. Purchased and owned by doctor in KY and he owned it for 38 years. I talked to the original owner's wife and got the verbal history of the car from her when purchased. Comes with picture of her in front of car circa 1969. She paid a shop to restore it in 1999 and repaint it for her husband as a birthday gift. First guy did not complete the work so she took it to another shop and spent a total of $18,000 on the restoration. Purchased at Harrod-Early Chevrolet in Oct. 1967. Car could be upgraded with little restoration to wiper door and other minor cosmetic issues. Repaint for a trailer queen, keep the existing paint for a fantastic and very rare driver car. 79,623 miles from the odometer. December 15, 2009. |
