1972 Corvette 454 Stingray Convertible, LS-5, (454-425 hp), M-20 heavy duty 4 speed, All numbers match. 72,206 original miles. Ontario Orange paint with Light Saddle Tan Deluxe interior. Body-on restored. Engine codes on the motor are CRS. Cant afford a LS-6 Stingray Convertible, neither could I, so I built my own, but with a Hydraulic Cam. The motor has been built to LS-6 Specs and has a lot of power. Engine rebuilt with Comp Cam .520 lift, Bored .030 over, TRW Forged Pistons, 9.0:1 C.R., Factory LS-6 Intake Cast # 3963569, Factory LS-6 Rectangular Port Heads, Matched Set Cast # 3964291, and Holley 800 CFM Double Pumper Carb. The engine carries 40psi Oil Pressure and never runs hot like most Big Blocks. Interior cabin does not suffer from extreme engine heat normally associated with these cars. Optioned with power steering, power brakes, leather, tilt-n-telescopic, tinted windows, factory air conditioning, 3.70 posi, SS brakes, original Am/Fm stereo radio, Hooker Header Super Competition Side Exhaust, factory alarm, rallys, and raised white lettered radials. Most all factory correct type components including the spare, jack, jack tools, seat belts, washer system, shifter, shielding, tach drive distributor, air cleaner, and owners manual are present. This car looks and drives like a LS-6 car, it is very fast and sounds awesome. LS-6 Specs for 71 were 425hp @ 5600 rpm and 475 ft lbs @ 4000 rpm. This car easily meets or exceeds this. As pics show engine retains a factory LS-6 look with many LS-6 Corvette Parts. Documented with over $10,000 in receipts and some previous owner history. All original matching number engine parts such as original heads, intake, carb, exhaust manifolds, water pump, and harmonic balancer go with the car. Everything in the car works except the AC. The headlight doors, wiper door, tach, gauges, heat and ventilation system, even the factory alarm, it all works. I removed the AC Compressor and sealed the AC System. I still have the Compressor, mounting brackets, bolts, even the AC Belt. With an excellent interior, decent body, awesome paint, and very low mileage, this Corvette represents a very clean and collectible Big Block Steel Bumper Stingray Convertible at a great price. They made approximately 27,000 corvettes in 1972, of which only 6,900 were convertibles, and only a total of 3,900 Big block 454 cars in both T top and convertible. Factor in the 4 speed which is also very limited and desirable. How many in this combination w/ Ontario Orange/Lt Saddle Deluxe Interior/ and White Top is probably very few, in the 100s. It is well known these 454 cars are becoming very collectable, especially with mid years topping and exceeding $100k. Vin # 1Z67W2S507926, Car Built Nov '71 Block Cast # 3999289, Date J1271 ( Oct 12th 71 ), Stamping T1TI2CSR 12S507926 Trans M-20 4spd, Main Case #s 3925661, 12S597926 (Vin Seq), P2S10A P=Muncie, 2=1972, S= Nov, 10= Day 10, A= 2.52 Ratio Rear 3.70 Posi ( Code CFA ). This an extremely rare and desirable Corvette, that looks, runs, and drives excellent. I have owned this car the past 10 years. 72,206 miles. March 22, 2008. |
