Car history: |
Seven Hills Motorcars is glad to offer this 1980 L-82 Corvette that is an excellent driver and priced to sell. The car is totally solid and rust free. It runs awesome and is a blast to drive. This is an excellent opportunity to own a classic Corvette that is ready to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal work and effort. This car is verified as an original L-82 by the VIN, 1Z876AS435417. The fifth digit, "6," means that this car was ordered new from the factory with the L-82 engine option. Please peruse all of the photos below to get a true sense of this Corvette.
This Corvette is finished in the very desirable color combination of Black over Oyster Leather. This is the original and correct color scheme as indicated on the trim tag pictured below. While this car is not completely numbers matching, it does have a Chevrolet V8. The casting number on the block is 3970010, which was a very widely used block for Chevrolet. It was also used in Corvettes from 1969 to 1979. I invite and encourage you to look at the Corvette in person.
As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.
Condition: Exterior The black exterior paint is in presentable driver condition. The paint has a high gloss. However, the paint job is not of best quality, which is evident in the photos. There are no major spots or imperfections in the paint that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. I have done my best to accurately and objectively photograph the car and show the flaws, but some are too small or cannot be picked up by the camera. One should really view the car in person to get the best and most accurate idea of what the car really looks like. For the most part however, the car looks in person as it does in the photos. The tires are in great shape with about 90% of tread left. This Corvette is equipped with aluminum wheels, which still retain a very nice finish. There are no rust issues with this car. The frame is solid with no rust in front of the rear tire around the "key hole" and there no rust visible on the "A" pillar around the windshield.
Window Date Codes Driver's: LZ - "L" denotes March and "Z" denotes 1980 meaning this piece of glass was made in March of 1980. Passenger: XZ - "X" denotes February and "Z" denotes 1980 meaning this piece of glass was made in February of 1980. Rear: NZ - "L" denotes January and "Z" denotes 1980 meaning this piece of glass was made in January of 1980.
Please note that the side glass on this Corvette is date coded and original to the car as it predates the build date of July 9, 1980, verified by the code of the trim tag "J09." Original glass is a good indication that the car has not been in a major accident and never sustained significant damage.
Interior The interior of this Corvette is in excellent condition. The seats look literally brand new with no signs of wear. The carpet is also in like new condition with no stains, tears, or holes. The rear carpet also looks great, which is often neglected. The dash and console are in nice shape with no cracks, sun damage, or fading. The door panels are in good condition and fit well to the door. The rear cargo cover operates properly and has no rips or tears. The jack and jack handle are still present and correctly stowed in the storage compartment. T-Tops bags are also present and included with the car. The original pedal pads are not excessively worn and, as one can see from the pictures, show normal wear for a car with this mileage. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. This was not a smokers car and there is no aroma of smoke whatsoever. Mechanical This car seems to be in good mechanical condition. The car starts right away every time, idles well, runs great. There are no issues that affect the drivability of the car. The car drives great; it is smooth on the road and at highway speeds. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. The transmission shifts smoothly throughout the power band. Also, the engine compartment is nicely detailed as one can see in the photos. The previous owner stated that he purchased this engine completely rebuilt at a local event, but we do not have any receipts or documentation. This Corvette has plenty of power and is very fast. The horn works as do the headlights, fan for the heater and a/c, wipers (although they do make some noise), lights, and power windows. The vacuum for the headlights works as both lights pop up with the headlight switch or override switch as they should. This car originally had a/c, but the compressor is longer present. The car does have some fluid leaks. The power door locks, a very common issue on C3 Corvettes, do no work, and the cruise control is not engaging. This car is a pleasure and very much to drive, especially with the t-tops out on a nice day.
Overall Condition Overall, this 1980 Corvette is in good driver condition. This car is a great value and we have priced it to sell. This car turns heads and gets ton of attentions wherever it goes. The previous owner stated that he thought the mileage to be original, but he was forced to mark the title as "Non-Actual" by the State of Indiana due to the engine swap. The value of the C3 body style cars has gone up dramatically in the past few years. They are all solid investments for a collector. One could enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than your purchase price with minimal effort.
