Car history:
The original owner is unknown; I would love to learn more if anyone has information. It was purchased from Gates Chevrolet in South Bend, Indiana based on the NCRS Shipping Report.

When we purchased the car, it came with a Missouri State University parking tag on the rear window that appeared to be roughly from the late 70s or early 80s. The story we got from the couple we purchased the car from was that it was previously owned by a college student. At some point in the late 70s (?), the car was hit and suffered significant damage to the driver's side. At this time the car's front cap was replaced, along with the driver's side door, t-top, and quarter panel. The original frame came with the car but had significant rust issues, no structural damage was noticeable, however. The sellers already had a replacement frame powder coated, ready to use that was included with the car. At some point, the car was repainted from its original donnybrooke green to a gold color then later changed to bronze. The gold only is apparent on portions of the car that are original. The bronze color is found all over the car and appears to be the third repaint. The original saddle carpet was replaced with dark brown carpet and the seats were recovered at some point.

Sometime after, for unknown reasons, the car was placed in a barn with 63,000 miles where it sat for approximately 20 years. A couple outside of Springfield, MO purchased the car and stripped it down to begin a frame-off restoration before they decided to sell the car. My father purchased the car in 2001 in a nearly total disassembled state but with most of the parts there. The body was joined with the new frame and rebuild chassis and put back on the road in 2007 but still needed exterior and interior restoration.

The car is currently undergoing the remainder of its restoration as of Summer 2021.
