Car history: |
1969 427 4spd Side Exhaust Corvette Coupe. Built on November 26th 1968 this is an early 1969. It came from the factory in Riverside gold with a black vinyl interior. It Had a repaint in Orange later in life and is now in black primer. The Car has gone through a body off restoration which is a paint job away from being complete. The body was removed the original rust free frame was sand blasted and powder coated. Then all the suspention and steering Components were either rebuilt or replaced, all new Brake calipers brake lines and master cylinder. New Fuel tank, fuel lines, filters and sending unit. The rear end as well as the trailing arms and 1/2 shafts were rebuilt and refinished. The 427 was rebuilt the M21 was rebuilt. All the correct under body insulation was replaced and the under body was cleaned. New Vaccume hoses were installed in the engine compartment. The original interior got new carpet the seats were recovered and a new center console. The body was bolted back on with a new body mount kit. I did the initial Break-in on the 427 for 20 minutes and have started it every other day for the last two weeks. It starts right up every time and the temp holds solid even sitting at 2000rpm. I drove the car down the block and back to make sure that it stopped, steered and accelerated. Brakes could use a final bleed and the clutch could use a final adjustment. The bumpers need rechroming but will ship bolted on the car. The car will need new tires and Side exhaust insulators. The two center covers for the side exhaust are new from Paragon, the front and rear tips need refinishing. The rear valance and exhaust openings were filled before I got the car. The body is all GM glass in good shape. There is one crack on the rear deck passengers side and you can see the two cracks in the front where the former owner backed into the car. One on the front passengers side and the one at the tip of the nose, it's not bad at all. It sat in his driveway for 18 years before I got it Last year. I do believe that the car has 83,000 original miles. I do believe that it was Originally a 427 Car. There is no tank sticker as the tank had beed removed by the prior owner. The only option was 427. The side exhaust was added later. There are misc. things to be done but all the major mechanical is complete. This car has the original; FA 370 Heavy duty posi rear end dated 11-23-68, Muncie M21 with Vin stamp and date P9S22B, January 69 512 CE block 3931063 Heads are dated J 29 8 - K14 8, Intake 3947801 Distributor 1111926. 83,000 miles. April 7, 2008. |
