Anticipation was high for the introduction 68 Corvettes. So much so, that many 1967 Corvettes languished in dealer showrooms for much of the year!
The sleek "Shark" body was completely new for 68 and featured design elements from the Mako Shark show cars. Such elements included a long hood with peaked fenders, distinctive "Coke bottle" silhouette and a short rear deck that incorporated a subtle lip spoiler. Hide-away headlights were a carry-over, but they were now vacuum operated. The windshield wipers were now also hidden beneath a vacuum operated door on the cowl. The interior was also all new and quite "cockpit" like with an aircraft inspired dash and a low slung seating position. Another interesting element was the introduction of a fiber optic light monitoring system, which was taking directly from the show car.
The Drive trains were carried over (why mess with a good thing) from the 67 model run. The example being offered here has undergone an extensive, restoration and features a rebuild numbers matching 327/350hp small block with a 4 speed transmission.
