This is a 1978 Corvette, originally finished in the special Silver anniversary silver and charcoal paint (see trim tag picture). The car was painted white in the 90s. It has been thoroughly detailed inside and out, and is ready for summer.
The car has BRAND NEW WHEELS and Nexen N7000 tires with less than 20 miles on them. The brakes were totally redone recently and work great. The car starts and runs fine. Suspension is also in good shape. All of the lights work, and the headlights work properly. The car passed TX state safety inspection and tags are current. It is wearing L-82 badges but it's an L-48 car.
Exterior: This car is a great 10-footer. The paint looks good for its age, cleans up well, and presents well. It does have several chips and cracks that you would expect on a 20-25 year old paint job on a Corvette. It's been touched up well, and overall it's pretty nice.
Interior: For its age, it's in pretty nice shape. A few parts were just replaced to bring the entire interior up to par, including the driver's side sun visor, parking brake cover, and shift boot. There is one small tear in the driver's seat back, and as with most C3 Corvettes, the dash has a couple cracks. Other than that it looks pretty good.
Known issues: The radio doesn't work (may just need a new head unit, I haven't looked into it). A few drops of transmission fluid leak out from the pan gasket every day. Not a big leak, and the transmission shifts properly. It has a few of the normal C3 Corvette issues: clock doesn't work, windows roll up and down slow, and the electric tachometer isn't working (most likely needs the circuit board replaced - not an expensive or very difficult fix).
This isn't a perfect car, but it is a great car to have some fun in. It would be a great candidate to fully restore in pieces while you drive it and enjoy it, if that's what you want. It would also be a great candidate for an engine swap to give it the go to match the show. Save up some cash and drop in an LS motor or a 383 Stroker. Or just enjoy it for what it is: an affordable, sharp looking, driver quality Corvette. |
