Car history: |
1969 Corvette Stingray 2-Top Convertible. "Chrome Bumper" Corvette. NOM 427/390hp Engine. Factory Original Big Block Car. Same owner for 20 years plus Tons of paperwork/receipts. Local owner selling off his toys sold this car to our dealership. This private owner is a retired Detroit Diesel/General Motors executive who really kept this car in great shape. The car is in very good shape inside and out and has a solid frame that has been kept in good weather only. It has 108k actual miles and has only been owned by a few people. It spent the last couple of decades under the watchful eye of this mature and dedicated Corvette fanatic who has owned just about all the different generations of the Corvettes from 54 up to the C5's. He spent lots of money and time restoring the car along the way as needed. Car doesn't need a thing. Turn the key and go. the paint and body are in great shape, all the lines and spaces are perfect. The interior was restored a few years back and still in great shape. looks to be all new except rear deck carpets and doors. The leather is in great shape. The dash and all bright works, handles, knobs, vents, visors, etc. are all brand new. It has a Corvette tape deck in it with an amplifier and a removable box in the rear designed to fit in the rear compartment of the Corvette. The tunes crank. The car came with a box of goodies that were not installed on the car yet that you'll get with it. The engine is not the original 427 engine but it is definitely a real big block car and the engine is built to correct factory 427/390 hp hydraulic lifter specifications. It runs great and sounds really nice through the new factory correct side-pipes. I drove this car for a couple of hours in both city and highway conditions. I was very impressed and enjoyed cruising with the top down and the radio up. The wipers have a new actuator and new relays that are working as they should. it's a little tricky to turn them off. You have to time it as they are on the way down. The lights are all working, blinkers, interior lights including the fiber optics. Most are working. The gauges are all working perfectly including the clock. The hard top is off the car for now and the black soft top looks to be a few years old but very presentable and free of any rips, wholes or window staining. Weather-stripping in good shape too. The wheels are Corvette "True Ray" wheels that were very popular after-market wheels that Chevy dealerships were installing through the early to late 70's. I kinda like them since they do have the Corvette flags on them. I had a 77 vette with them on it back in the day. The correct rally wheels are everywhere and cheap if you like that factory original look. The tires are Goodyear ST's . New rears, good fronts. All glass is original LOF and in great shape. no windshield rash or wiper scrapes. This car needs... 1.The kick-down for the carburetor secondary chamber needs adjusting. It's new according to the previous owner but needs to be adjusted to work properly. I will have it looked. It's fast enough now but jump when this is adjusted. 2.All new e-brake cables and pads come with the car but the e-brake currently does not work. Could have dome a better job designing that system. 3.The wiper door relays are new but still not working 100%. If you turn them off when they are on the way down they will close correctly. To the previous owner he said "close enough" and I agree. That system can make you scratch your head til it bleeds. Colors from the trim plate. January 19, 2009. |
