Car history:
This roadster has just over 25,000 documented miles and is equipped with a silver leather interior, factory A/C, 350 V8 (L-48), 4 speed manual transmission, power steering, power disc brakes, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, white convertible top and the color matching auxiliary hardtop. It is painted a factory color code 74 also referred to as Dark Red.

This is a nice original car. The interior has all the original upholstery and carpeting. The key buzzer still works as well as the original gauges (except for the clock). Under the hood sits the original motor with the original paint and accessories. The belt to the A/C compressor has been removed as the air conditioning blew cool air at best and as the top was usually down I saw no reason to recharge the A/C system. My thoughts were to replace the compressor with something a little more modern and energy efficient if I ever got to the point where I wanted air conditioning. Ill work with the new owner to make this right. The body and paint are in very good shape. The chrome is 100% original. Underneath you'll find an excellent un-restored chassis.

Here are some of the window sticker details:

Total production figures for the 1975 model year were 38,465. Of this figure only 4,629 or roughly 12% of them were convertibles. Out of these only 2,407 were equipped with the auxiliary hardtop.

The bulk of these cars (over 28,000) were equipped with the Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission (available as a no-cost option) and power windows (available for $93). As a contrast this car was ordered by the original owner with a 4 speed and without the power windows. Air conditioning in a convertible was not all that common in 1975. Research also indicates that the custom silver leather interior was a very rare option as there were even limited numbers of the silver vinyl interiors produced.

We have documentation showing that the original owner ordered the car from Albrecht Chevrolet in Wood River, Illinois. The actual date of delivery was March 28, 1975. The cars second owner purchased the car on May 13, 1998. At the time of purchase the car still had the original tires. When the new tires were installed on May 16, 1998 the car had 17,372 miles on it. The original tires which have a considerable amount of tread are stored along with the auxiliary hardtop in our basement.

In October of 1993 this car received a NCRS (National Corvette Restorers Society) Top Flight designation. We have the certificate, ribbon and the judging sheets that show a grand total score of 98.1. The car appraised for $35,000 in November of 2007.

I added a few additional pictures of the interior. Due to weather issues (rain) these were taken in a garage with no direct sunlight. Clearly they aren't the best but there are no stains or defects in the carpet or seats.

I also wanted to provide some clarification regarding the paint. I had always believed that based upon the age of the car and some overspray evidence that the car had probably been repainted at some point in time. As I didnt care one way or the other I never even gave it another thought. Based upon the number of questions Ive entertained I followed up with a phone call to the original owner to see if he could provide some more information. He very graciously explained that when the car arrived at the dealer the finish was not what he expected and the local dealer worked very hard to make it right. Those efforts included a repaint of some body panels to get a higher quality finish. Based on this info, with the exception of the new bumper covers (painted and installed in 2000) the car does indeed have the same paint today that it had when it was awarded the Top Flight designation back in 1993.
